Excellent idea, Wacky. I come from a long line of military men and I am so supportive of people entering the military I cannot even tell you. The military breeds excellent cops too. I think we should all earn the right to a good life by either serving in the military, serving humanity, or working very, very hard - or all three. We should not be receiving handouts from the government so we can turn around and shoot and rob cops trying to keep tax-paying working citizens safe by taking guns off the streets.

Someday I'm going to get arrested in this city for crossing an anti-war picket line and strangling some pink-haired rich kid from NYU screaming at the top of his lungs about something he knows nothing about.

Perhaps not but maybe it would give some direction to those lazy @sses that would rather sit home and sponge off the government instead of work or make something of themselves and their lives. The military would give them direction, skills, and perhaps a bit of pride in themselves.

Nina, you are correct. Only makes the point that some people take advantage of this country and all of the rights it affords. Some people take, take, take and don't pay back in any way, shape or form. They don't serve their country, they don't serve humanity (just shoot cops), and they don't work. They're blights on society. And it's wrong and it's unfair.

As for the guy- didn't they catch one of them on the Ferry dressed as a woman! Not sure about the 'perp' they found in the car. Either which, I don't care where they were found, just glad they're caught! I do believe they should get the death penalty, and agree w/ Fletch. So my tax dollars are going to provide an education, meals etc.. to these people for the rest of their lives? The thought alone makes me sick!
I don't care what kind of upbringing sob story- they can save it. They knew what they were doing and they know killing was inhumane, or they wouldn't have ran! Make society a better place, and get rid them.

My views are NOT based on this one crime so I am not being anti-police. These 2 men were trying to make our streets safer by getting guns out of the hands of the 'bad' guys. And they lost their lives, similar to a solider, fighting for something they believed in. I hope their children know that their Dads did get some very 'scary' men off the streets of our City and it is a safer place because of them.
BUT:
Because I don't believe in hanging a man up by his bal_s in a public square without a trial doesn't mean that I should bef forced to have a killer live with my family.
Liberals are also the people who help elderly people get Medicare and believe in money for education. I am actually not a die-hard either way. I am one of those people who thinks about each issue and makes a decision based on what I think is fair and right.
I think that jails need to educate younger inmates and keep rapes, fights and drugs out of the jails. When you have a 18 year old in an adult prision because he stole $200 or a car, you know what you get? An adult man who steals more cars, and is now violent. Is it the 18 years old responsiblity to magically learn a better way of life? By some 'poof' all of a sudden he is going to come out of prision 5 years later, wiser, more mature and ready to contribute to society. Oh, and who hires this uneducated x-convict? So now, he is forced to figure out a way to support himself and guess what, there is no job for him in the legit world so he again, turns to the only way of life he knows, he goes where people don't care who is was or what he did, he goes to people who pretend to care. And then you get a killer and/or vioilent criminal.
And anyone who believes that you can beat a child, throw them on the street at 17, not care one bit if they are alive or dead and then have a productive, healthy, non-violent citizen is being very short-sided. Does that give them the 'okay' to kill someone, anyone, not just a Cop? Of course not. Does that make the crime any less painful or wrong, of course not. All I am saying is that if the educated non-violent citizens of our country start stringing up men by their ba_ls how are you any better than the criminals?

I know FIRST hand that if you send someone to jail at 18 for a small crime they NEVER COME BACK THE SAME. Even if they are there for a Month..

The system changes them inside.. and if they are a felon how does life become easy for them.
No one will hire them no one gives them a chance so they are forced back into the life of crime to survive.. We need more education in the system on how to help these people to survive..

Cops know the risk they are taking when they take the oah.. Its not all easy..

and criminals know the risks they take when they do bad things..

But I think Punishment like you girls are calling for makes yOU just as bad as them and with attitudes like that NOTHING will ever change

I agree with R&T, I'm noticing a lot of ANGER and HATE in some of these posts and it's very disturbing. This kind of attitude perpetuates many of the problems that our world is facing.

I don't think these posts are filled with hate. I think people in general are getting fed up with the Bull$hit that is going in society, maybe these criminals would think twice about taking someone else's life if they knew that their life would be taken if convicted

Maybe if the system was more about educating people then punishing them the whole world would have a revolt..

Fact is, straight up, until you marry a police officer and/or bear his children or are the child of one, you cannot relate on a completely fundamental level. Sure, as a tax-paying citizen, you can be sad, and outraged. Even if you have cops in your family - uncles, cousins, etc, you can be angry and sad and hurt and upset. But until you are the partner, lover, life-sharing partner of a person who puts his/her life on the line every single day of their lives wearing 9mm weapons and bulletproof vests and getting paid not a freakin living wage by this city that denigrates them, points fingers at them, questions them on how to do their jobs daily, and IMMEDIATELY, in EVERY situation where a weapon is fired, assumes the worst - that they weren't doing their jobs correctly, you will never, ever be able to relate. You guys can talk about getting sick and all the anger and rage you're hearing that you want to - but you flat out do not know what you're talking about. I would say maybe only the wives of military and fire fighters have an inkling of what I'm talking about.

My FH chose this job, and he is **** good at it. He loves police work, but he loathes this city and the bureacratic BS that runs it. The NYPD is hell to work for. Fact is, he has 10 years on now and stands to lose a lot more than his pension if he leaves. So we make the best of it as we can now, until he can retire (God willing he lives that long, either through the actions of IGNORANT, UNEDUCATED thugs who think nothing of assasinating men by shooting them from behind while seated and defenseless, or through the actions of educated, murderous religious fanatics who fly planes into buildings).

I even spoke to a nun about the feelings I was having and guess what she told me? FEELINGS are not sinful or wrong. They're just that - FEELINGS, and we are entitled to them.

I suppose we should all gather around the perps in a group hug and tell them how sorry we are that their lives were so hard, and how scared they must have been when they realized that the NYPD was bearing down on them and that their butts were in some big time trouble for selling illegal weapons.
