Does anyone live wiht FH yet?

Since were saving we haven't moved in yet with each other. We are both at our parents house. We are probably getting an apt. together but I am not sure if i would where we would rent because i am not sure if i want to live in someones house apt. or move into an apt. complex. The apt. buildings are just so much more in rent than renting out of someones house. Anyone suggest an apt complex thats not too much money a month. We just need a one bedroom.

I have lived with my FH for the better part of 6 years. We live in a two room apartment in my Dad's house. I don't know of any good apt complexes off hand though. Where are you looking?

Honestly, I would get a place in someone's house. A lot of the ones on LI are absentee landlords (meaning the landlord doesn't live at the house), so you don't have the problem of the landlord hearing your every move. It's much cheaper.

I have lived with fh for 3 years. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment in a house, but the owners do not live there. They rent 2 apartments out of the house. We have a backyard and the apartment was brand new. It is huge and we love it and never have to deal with a landlord. Rent is cheap so it works perfect for us. Maybe you should look for something like that

FH & I are landlords and not for nothing, landlords get a lot of flack. let me tell you, tenants are not all that easy to have. try being a landlord and always get the rent paid late or be woken up in the middle of the night b/c your tenants are so loud or repeatedly asking them not to do something 453345 times yet they still do it. try being a landlord, it's not that easy.

sorry for the vent - but obviously i have issues lol

I know the rent would be cheaper in a house. I was looking then stopped because the house apts. that i looked at were either too small for two people or it was kinda runned down. I also found that a lot of house apts. i would call and speak to the landlord and when they would hear it was for a couple they were like 'no we only want a single person living here'.

WOW!! I see your mad..lol Well I believe you, I know people who have rented in the past and tell me they would never do it again...lol They have some horror stories as well. I guess it's hard being a landlord and sometimes hard being the tenant!! YOu can't win either way..lol

lol yeah i'm a little cranky. the thing is we don't rent b/c we just want extra spending money, we rent the apartment b/c we have to. and when we don't get the rent on time we can't just call our mortgage company and say well we don't have it. it gets very very frustrating. don't rent if you can't afford it, simple ya know. i'm not a bad landlord, i can be very accomodating and understanding, but sometimes people abuse that.

I don't live with FH yet for the same reasons. Trying to save extra money for the wedding and to hopefully buy a house one day soon.

Check out heatherwoodcommunities.com. I'm pretty sure that they are suffolk. Sorry I don't know where you are looking.

Personally, especially as a newlywed I would rather live ina complex and have some independence. I wouldn't want to live in someone's basement even though some apartments are really nice. And I especially wouldn't want to live with my landlord. But that's my personal preference.

I live with FH and we live in an apartment in a house. It has 2 bedrooms and it very spacious, and tons cheaper than renting in a complex. Not to mention, our landlords are gone for the better part of the year in Florida, and we never have to worry about being too loud or anything.

Try looking in Westbury. . . .there are tons of 2 family houses right by off old country road and lots of renters.

I'm glad we decided to rent an apartment in a house.

I can see why you get annoyed. They should be paying their rent on time. You should try looking for better tenants maybe. Although, you wil never know if they are good or bad unti it's too late and they are already your tenant.s

I am looking in Nassau right now, we both work in Nassau. I don't want to travel too far to work everyday. We are still trying to save but we have to have a place a couple of months before the wedding so I will start looking again after the holidays.

We don't live together and we're in a similar situation. Our plan is to get an apartment in May and only have the one year lease. We started looking at apartment complexes and I agree they are much more than a house apartment. I used to have my own apartment that was the top floor of a house and it was really cheap and included all utilities. I definitely want something like that again.

We've lived together for 5 years now. We have a 2 bedroom, downstairs in a house. Houses were much cheaper then the buildings when we looked. Take your time and you'll find something!
