Does anyone live wiht FH yet?

Original post by LT

Since were saving we haven't moved in yet with each other. We are both at our parents house. We are probably getting an apt. together but I am not sure if i would where we would rent because i am not sure if i want to live in someones house apt. or move into an apt. complex. The apt. buildings are just so much more in rent than renting out of someones house. Anyone suggest an apt complex thats not too much money a month. We just need a one bedroom.

i just moved in with FH 3 weeks ago, into his house....we could have rented an insane apartment in the city with what we paid separately.

Parents not 100% thrilled !

After doingthe basement apartment thing...we now live in an apartment complex and we are both sooo happy. We have the pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, track, gym...all free to us. We have a nice 1 bedroom with washer/dryer/dishwasher and TONS of closet space...but most importantly....it is a LEGAL apartment and we have the same amount of rights as the complex owners. If something is broken...they HAVE to come and fix it and they do within the hour! I would not ask for more...it is sooo beautiful...I would go with a complex over a basement or someones house anyday!

What complex do you live in?

We have been living together for a few years now in multiple places. Currently we are living with my parents to save extra money (not ideal but we deal with it). If we can't afford a house by the time the wedding comes around we will rent in a complex.

FH has this thing about renting in someone else's house. I understand his reasons so I don't argue with it.

FH and I live in a one bedroom apartment over a barbershop.
It gives us the privacy and freedom we'd want from an apartment complex, without the large price tag.

maybe you can look into something like that?

Me & My FH owna home & have lived together for 3 years . I agree renting a apartment is much cheaper the appt complex. I do have a G/F that is looking to rent /sell her co-op in North Babylon .Its a Fairfield Co-op

We have been living together since we got engaged (almost 1 year). FH still has his bachelor pad apartment though if he needs to go home and he started going through his stuff and tossing stuff out.
We wanted to see if we were compatible living with one another and since we had set the wedding date and started to move his belongings in we said he might as well live there (although we tell family - other than his folks) that he lives in his place and I live in mine.

I know the rent would be cheaper in a house. I was looking then stopped because the house apts. that i looked at were either too small for two people or it was kinda runned down. I also found that a lot of house apts. i would call and speak to the landlord and when they would hear it was for a couple they were like 'no we only want a single person living here'.

i rent in a person's house, i would suggest this over a complex cause if u are good tendants there less likely to raise the rent. but it is very frustrating we looked at tons of places and there run down or not what we were looking for.........but in newsday we found a very nice apaerment!! its frustrating but keep looking u'rll find something! theres pics on my albaum

That's really nice. Is it in Nassau?

yes westbury

I hope we're as lucky as you when we start looking next year!

Hang in there it is soo frustrating our first place which is not as nice took months and months to find!
this one took 6 weeks just keep looking everywhere newsday, craiglsist, apartments.com!!!
and lol the other promlem is I have a dog lol so that was a challenge!! its frustrating but u'll find whats right for u! GL
