I saw a DJ last night and this was the email I got this afternoon:
It was nice to meet you and your fiance' last night. Its funny, I just received an email this morning from a liwedding bride requesting information for September 18, 2004. Like I said last night, 2004 dates are really coming in fast. I sent her off information and a price list.
I know you two are looking around and I was your first DJ, but honestly the day could go at anytime. I actually have more september dates next year than I do this year, strange but true.
I'm not trying to put any pressure on you, I just wanted to let you know that someone else is interested in the date. Without a signed contract and deposit i can't hold the date.
Okay I hope to speak to you soon. Take care and happy planning.
I dont like to feel pressured. I told him Thanks for the email FI and I will be in touch soon.

I sense PRESSURE!!!!!!!!
They all say that well, I have had people interested in that date. It could be just a line to get you into making your decision.

Re: Does this sound like pressure
I know that when I spoke to other vendors and had not signed naything yet, they held the day for me for a week until I could decide.

Yes, it definately does. I had a reception hall do the same thing to me, and I ended up not taking them (but not just for the pressure reason, they were very $$$ too) but it would turn me off!

Re: Does this sound like pressure
Sounds like BS to me... seriously what are the chances he just got a call on a date for next year the SAME as yours...sounds like he's being pushy..it's obvious that if you don't put a deposit down, anyone could have that date, but telling you over and over again like that it just ridiculous, I would rethink how important this dj is to you, and then decide what you want to do...

Re: Does this sound like pressure
if this is a reputable vendor i see no need to 'feel pressure' - they are just letting you know the situation and you can what you want with it! i cant imagine a vendor being THAT pathetic to send out such emails to prospective clients without good reason.

I have had so many vendors do this to me. And I think that the majority are LYING when they do. They should NOT pressure you to do that. There are so many other vendors out there that unless you are SURE do NOT go with them. Just my 2 cents!

Re: Does this sound like pressure
thanks. I sent the email to FI with a note saying I really thing we should rethink this guy, yea he was great in a showcase and was really nice but coincidence he got a call today from a girl on LIW for our date.
That is just really low. I am on here all the time and the only person I know for a fact that is on the same date as me is NYLisa and she has her DJ already.
I dont like to feel pressured.

Re: Does this sound like pressure
I think this is pressure. Alot of places we went to did the same thing the day after we left. They called us and said that someone had just left their office interested in the same date. Is it who I think it was?

Rebecca: why do you have to pick on me? I'm sorry that I like to plan ahead.
Melissa: You are right. I think that it is only the two of us for that date so far.

Re: Does this sound like pressure
A photographer did the same thing to me and it turned me right OFF!
He was expensive and very good, but seemed to have a very 'I'm the greatest' attitude.
He called me the day after we met with him and said, 'Right after you left I got a call from another couple who wants your date. They're coming in tomorrow, and I really don't want you to lose your date in case they want to book with me. If you want to book, you'll have to get back to me before tomorrow.'
I said, 'Okay. Thanks.' And after I hung up I KNEW, no matter how good he was, I did NOT want him as my photographer. Does he think I'm stupid???
I think it's scare tactics, and it's very unethical.

Rebecca: I have the church, hall, photographer, videographer, throw away garter, our toasting goblets, gifts for groomsmen has been ordered, organist is set, i have things for the guests tables, we're looking into favors for the wedding, we priced centerpieces (we are doing floating candles) and i have some small odds and ends. We are also ordering the cake cutting set, my keep garter, and cake topper next month.
