Don't know where to start!! - Long Island Weddings
Start looking at pictures of venues- on their website and google to find some pics from past weddings. Plan out a budget and e-mail/call venues that you're interested in for quotes. :)

i knew i wanted something on the water so that helped me narrow down my searching..if you want something special try to look for places that have what you are looking for..i called/asked people on here for quotes and then if it was in my price range I went to look

I narrowed my search down by price.. I knew the price I wanted to pay. I emailed a ton of places and only looked at the ones within our budget (it's kind of a small number so it narrowed my options down pretty quick). We also tried to stay in Suffolk county since that's where all of our family is. I think if you pick one or two aspects (location, price, on the water, etc) you will narrow it down quicker than you think.. Good luck!

Start by deciding if you want Nassau or suffolk...and where you think you want the actual ceremony. We knew what church we were getting married at and wanted to stay relatively close to the church. I know if you call the main line for the Lessing's venues they give you quotes over the phone and if theres any site fees for any of their sites. All of their venues are listed on their site and theres one main phone number.

II felt far behind too once i joined this forum and saw how far into 2015 dates have been booked already, but its definitely not the case. I knew i wanted nassau county, a saturday in April, one event at a time and certain type of look to the place. I used the reception guide to narrow down one event at a time venues and then viewed pics. The ones i liked i did research on.

Aw you have plenty of time! Don't feel discouraged. These ladies are right. Start with guest list to estimate how many people then figure out what your budget is (this was hard for me lol) & look at places based on that. If you have certain requirements like being near the water than that will help narrow it down. Liweddings helped me soo much. You can find a lot of quotes on here. Good luck!!

Feel free to post on here and ask if we have quotes for any of the places you like. I was able to get a round about quote for many places just by asking people on here

Re: Don't know where to start!!
Thanks everyone!I have a budget in mind already, and I'm estimating my guest count (hopefully) around the 225-240 range (I really don't see myself being allowed to cut anyone!) I'd like a venue where I can have the ceremony and the reception all in one place, and ideally, I'd like the venue to host only one wedding at a time. That being said, I'm realizing that I can probably get a better deal at a place that has 2 at a time. I'd be flexible on that I guess, but only if it all was well planned and had a good layout! Any ideas?

FLOWERFIELD's in St. James! I just got married there 09/07/13...AMAZING!
One wedding at a time...amazing food and GORGEOUS!!! One of my guests just booked her wedding there for 2015...she fell in love at my wedding
...ask for Karen or Kerri when you make an appointment! Also check out some Mansions on LI, Woodbury Country club, The Fox Hollow, The Watermill and Westbury Manor are great places too (I'm not sure if they only do one wedding at a time though)

This! I agree, asking some of the ladies on here really helped me. I got rid of all the other quotes I had, but I still have quotes for Timber Point if you want.

Don't know where to start!! - Long Island Weddings
location was a big decision for us because we have a lot of family coming from Queens so we wanted something kind of central. The Bayview House is in Bayshore, and we are water people, so it's right on the marina. I emailed a lot of different venues, got prices, and narrowed it down that way also. I made a seperate folder in gmail so it's easier to keep track of everything. When you find your place, you'll know right away. As soon as we walked in our venue, we said This is it! I felt very overwhelmed but just look at a venue once a week or something and get ideas.PS- Awesome wedding date by the way :)

This!! We are on a tight budget and started emailing/calling around and just asking around. We ended up LOVING the Watermill and had to switch our date to winter time (instead of Sept) to afford it but I don't regret it at all!
Good luck!

I'm sending you FM now for Timber Point. I don't remember the exact quote I got for bourne mansion but it was pricey and there is a site fee. If you call the main number of the lessings venues they will give you quotes.

Get the magazine Wedding sites and services.
It has a bunch of venues, pictures, sample menus, and average price per person to give you an idea of how much it will cost.
I marked the ones that I liked on there, then narrowed it down to what was in my budget and visited those.
