Re: Donation as Favor?
we did a donation in lieu of actual favors. we printed up something and put it in a frame- 1 per table letting our guests know what we did
To Our Family and Friends
With much thought and consideration, we have chosen a special way to say 'Thank You' for sharing our Wedding Day with us. In lieu of a traditional wedding favor we have made a donation in your honor to
‘Long Island Cares—The Harry Chapin Food Bank’
We feel the finest gift is one that helps others.
We truly appreciate your being part of our Special Day.
FH and I are making donations to the Surfrider Foundation and the animal shelter we volunteer at. We are going to put a card in these beachy frames. The frames are super cheap, but it is something they can take home.
I was thinking about printing up a menu....like a card...on the front would be menu choices (we have 6) and when you open it we would have the info about the donation. I do have a saying...will post it in alittle.

I'm thinking about making a bookmark telling about where we donated.

We made a donation to 'Autism Speaks' as I teach children with autism. I ordered small autism awareness magnets online ($1 each). I bagged them in clear bags and tied a ribbon with a tag that says, 'In your honor, a donation has been made to Autism Speaks. With love and thanks from Laura and Damian'

We did a donation as well. We did ours to the American Cancer Society as DH lost his mom to cancer and my mom is a survivor.
We typed a little note (similar to what evnme just posted) and printed them out on nice paper. We then rolled them into scrolls and tyed them with navy (my color) ribbon. One was left at each place setting. they went over well.
honestly, IMO, most wedding favors just end up in the junk drawer... or anything really substantial is too expensive. i think people appreciate your thoughts in donating to a good cause.
ETA: go to the website of which ever oganization your interested in. there is usually donation information or contact info. and they'll direct you from there. GOOD LUCK

We did a donation to THE LUPUS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA. We donated to Lupus for my MIL who was diagnosed with it many years ago. FM me for more info. I have some pic's in my album on the donation cards we had placed on the tables.

I am thinking of doing a donation to the American Cancer Society because I lost my mother to lung cancer. I also suggest going to the society's website that you want to donate to. Sometimes they even have their own scrolls and stuff that you tell them what to write on them and they will send them to you. I was also thinking of doing a small edible favor such as little boxes with hershey kisses in them to go along with the favor. I think it's a wonderful idea because you know the money is going to a good cause!
