My FH is starting to piss me off... are they just suppose to meet us @ the altar and its all good???? i think i seriously need a planner.. NO ONE IS HELPING ME!!
i need to speak to him in regards to realistic budgeting, his guestlist, etc etc and he keeps dodgin me i understand he started school, i understand he is stressed out but HELLO arent we all? you dont just put a ring on it and walk away... sorry but thats not what beyonce meant
he wants everything to be @ a certain spending level but you are not LISTENING TO THE NY PRICES... sometimes I wish we keep the destination wedding idea ....
but I know I want to be surrounded by all my loved ones...

I totally know how you feel. MY FH isn't very helpful either. He's come with me to view the venues but that's about it. As far as the actual planning it's MOH and me. Crazy! I already told him he needs to contribute more or else I'm gonna turn into a Bridezilla on his arse!!! LOL. But seriously, I don't think some of the FHs realize how much work and planning goes into all of this. They seem to think we're just having a ball doing all the planning, budgeting, etc. ourselves. SUX
Girl you are soo right... i guess im not the only one .. :) i thought i was being extra annoying (( i probably am ... but hey!! )) LOL

I see you're wedding isn't till 2011. Do you think that has something to do with it?
I'm a 2011 bride also. My FH isn't so interested either...but I'm guessing 6 months before the date (and when the real money starts getting dished out) he'll be a lot more concerned.

I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Let me know if you need help with prices, vendors, etc. I'd be glad to help with the ones we have met with so far. Good Luck.

I guess you always want what you don't have!
FH is super involved and wants to be a part of every decision. Most of the time this is great... like for the big things... but even the little things he wants to be a part of. It can get so annoying.. esp. when I get something in my head and he says ' ummmm I don't love it.... what else do you have!' UUghhhh
Good luck. I have been to a bunch of destination weddings and they were great. the brides really loved picking out the location and flowers two days before from a book-- no big decisions and everythign was great
Ugh! I totally agree! I wish my FI didn't care so much!

We're getting married THIS Friday and we STILL argue about this!
Be realistic, what can he get excited about? Is it music, limos, the style of tux? Maybe that's it and it's all he's willing to do. There's LOTS he can and will help with at the end- shuttling to and from the airport, bringing things to the reception hall...
I know you're frustrated, hang in there...all of you girls.
Men can be pretty useless sometimes. BUT, we love them. Just know that THEY WILL appreciate everything at the end and you will have had the greatest day of your life!

ITA! Try finding a few things that FH can really sink his teeth into and let him run with it. FH was all about the DJ and will probably be handling the menu/cake and definitely the tuxes. While it's a fraction of the wedding planning to be handled, I was glad for him to take it off my hands. Definitely try talking to your parents, BP, even FMIL. I'm sure she'd be excited to be included!

haha you cracked me up with the 'put a ring on it and walk away'
When we first booked the wedding my fiance was the same way. I told him 'I'm canceling the wedding because you're an idiot' which I didn't mean but at least I got his attention. He's been nothing but supportive since that and even helps make phone calls and appointments for vendors.

Me and FH actually had a full out fight about it. My parents are both deceased and NO ONE is helping me and I expect him to. Ever since the fight he is more on board. I wish it didn't have to come to that but I was losing it and was getting sick and tired of him saying do whatever you want.

:( i think i may run off to an island ... i simply cant deal
i delegated tasks to my 6 BMs a few mins ago but my FH and I thought we would have a wedding of 60-75 .. then my parents hands us a list of 120 people.. and we are paying for the wedding ourselves
:(
I would definitely talk to your parents. You need to set a limit of people that is realistic to your budget. Then you have to explain to the parents that they can only invite X number of extra people. If they really want people over that much then they should help out with the cost of that person.
As for FH, talk to him about your concerns but don´t push the subject. Guys have short attention spans. FH and I choose a certain amount of time that we will spend talking about the wedding details and try to stick to that. Even if it´s only half an hour.
What I do is gather all the info online and narrow it down to the best x number of vendors (usually about 4-6 but it depends). Then we sit down for the amount of time we have already established. (we decide with advance notice when it will be and treat it like an appt but i try to be flexible if he´s had a hard day or something.) I then show him the options and we narrow it down to two or three that we will personally meet with when we are in NY.
That´s what has worked for us.

Re: Dont Do Nada.. Just Meet me @ the Altar....
Hey In case you are interested, JZ Evnt Planning does full wedding coordination for only $975. I say only because I´ve heard that day of coordinators are around $500+ so that seems like a good price for planning the whole wedding. (i don´t have one so I´m not sure) You may want to give her a call. Her name is Julisa Zambrano (she also does officiant services and will be my officiant - 99.9% sure. Just waiting to meet her in person when I´m in NY to sign the contract). Although i haven´t met her in person yet she seems super nice. If you want her info let me know.
