I have known FH for at least 5 years before we started dating, as friends. I knew his parents and everything. I call them by their first names now. I don't know if I am going to start calling them 'mom' or 'dad' after we are married.
What does everyone who has been married do. If you aren't married yet, do you call them mom and dad?

I call them Gary and Pam. Most people I know call their In laws mom and dad once kids come. JMO .

I haven't yet....even though my FH asked me when I'm going to....he calls my mom, 'mom' LOL...I don't call his mom anything yet....LOL...I almost avoid the situ....

I'm sticking with first names.
I have a step-mom that I don't call mom so I don't want to call his mom, mom. Plus I'll be 40 years old...can't see having another mom now.

phew, thanks ladies lol I didn't want to call my FMIL (the devil) by 'mom'. She isn't my mom and she will never compare to my mom lol so there ya go!

I am still not sure what to do about that.....I love my FIL's so I could see myself saying mom and dad, but at the same time I am not sure that I feel terribly comfortable doing so....whenever she calls me, she says 'hi, it's mom!'
I might just avoid it whenever I can....my sister in law's call my parents by 1st name and that is fine!! Well, they say grandma and grandpa now since they all have children

I call my FILs by their first names. My FMIL said I could call her by her name or mom, whichever I was more comfortable with. I always thought I'd call them Mom and Dad, but now that the time is approaching, I might continue calling them by their first names. I think I'll have to wait and see...

I'm calling my FMIL by her first name. I currently call her by her first name also.
It's very hard for me to even think of calling anyone else mom other than my own mother. I think FMIl will wnat me to call her mom since all her other DIL's and SI;'s call her mom but I just can't.

My MIL was very cute about it. She wanted me to call her and her husband Mom D and Dad D. FH's last name begins with D. I would also avoid the situation before she said this to me. But this is nice, since it is really awkward to just call them mom and dad, but also impersonal to call them by their first names....probably after a few years, they'll become Mom and Dad.

I dont even call them anything LOL. Its pretty weird, if i have something to tell her ill wait till shes not doing anything and go up to talk to her. Its funny cause shes like call me mom im like nooooooooo. Its weird for me. I cant even call her by her first time. im real shy.

I use first names.
But, my in-laws are VERY old fashioned italian and probably don't like that I do... too bad though. I just hope they don't take it as disrespect. I already have a mom that I am very close with and my dad is deceased so I feel weird calling anyone else mom & dad.
Plus DH doesn't call my mom, mom...

Funny I was thinking about this the other day. When I talk to her, I call her by her first name..but when we email or send cards its Mom --- she refers to herself w/ us as MOM - My mother calls my fathers mother MOM - and its so nice... and my parent's arent even together anymore..but she said she's always called her mom and could never call her by her first name.. hmmm.. i wonder what ill do...
not really related... I have 2 children from a previous marriage.. when my fiance proposed, my son walked right up FH's mother and said 'so can i call you grandma now' IT WAS SOO CUTE!!! of course she said yes...
