I have known FH for at least 5 years before we started dating, as friends. I knew his parents and everything. I call them by their first names now. I don't know if I am going to start calling them 'mom' or 'dad' after we are married.
What does everyone who has been married do. If you aren't married yet, do you call them mom and dad?

I call FH's parents Mr and Mrs. But lately she has referred to herself as 'mom' and him as 'dad' when speaking about themselves. So I will use the look at them directly when speaking to them approach

I call my MIL mom...but he calls my parents by their first name...His dad has passed so I dont think he can call my father 'dad' and I dont expect him too...

I call them sim and val, I used to call them Mr and Mrs A but they wanted to be less formal.

I don't really say it when I see them but when I write cards for them I write mom and dad and their last name.

my parents asked dh to call them mom and dad. I call mil by her first name but will ask her if I can call her mom the next time I see her- we havent seen her since the wedding since she lives upstate.

I have two step parents plus bio parents so I think that I will stick to calling them Gail & Mike.!!!

I call his mother, stepmom, stepdad by their first names.... however I still call his dad 'Sensei' . It just feels really weird NOT calling him that.

i call his parents by their first names. that won't change once we are married. I only have one 'mom' and 'dad' and i'd like it to stay that way!

I've always called them by their first names and still do. DH used to call my parents Mr. & Mrs. because he was nervous - too cute. Now he calls them by their first names as well. We'll see what happens when we have kids.

DH and I both call each other's parents by their first names. We had this conversation, just the 2 of us, way before we got married, and we're both just comfortable this way. DH had said it would feel weird calling my mom 'Mom' too, since when he says that word, it's meant for his own mom. And I guess I feel the same way. Both sets of parents haven't said anything either way, so I guess we'll just go along the way we are, unless someone mentions it.

I call them by their first names for the most part. We have a little joke that Paula (FMIL) is my 'mommy' since I don't have a 'mommy', I have a 'mama' since my mom's Argentinian and I was raised calling her 'mama' (accent on the maMA)! So I never called my mom 'mommy' at all, and now we say Paula's my mommy lol.

I've been calling FMIL by her first name for nearly 10 years now - it wouldn't feel natural for me to start calling her mom after we get married

AS of now...after 5 years of dating, and now engaged...I still haven't been told that I could call them by their first names...
on my bday cards and everything they sign it 'Mr. and Mrs. .....'
My bday is in 2 weeks, I am curious to see how they sign it!

I call them by their first names.... I'm hoping that after we get married, I can start calling them mom and dad.... but thats gonna take some getting used to lol I'm going to hope they dont laugh when I say it

I don't call them anything! They've never said call me 'mom' or 'dad' or their first names.
I don't feel comfortable calling them Mr or Mrs because at my age, I feel like it's stupid. They live in FL so I don't see them often. They're coming up for Thanksgiving though so I guess we'll see what happens.
On cards and stuff they sign it 'Joe's mom and dad' -
FH calls my mom by her first name so I plan on following suit.
