Dress Dilemma (long!)
Recently I've been rethinking my dress choice. I think that seeing myself in the pictures I took at the store is what did it because I think the dress makes me look sort of wide (or wider, whatever) (sorry, I don't have them at work to post). I keep telling myself that it's because the dress hasn't been fitted to me and was being held together by clips. But then I ask, well, what if I'm wrong?I'm wondering if I should've gotten the other Richard Glasgow I was considering. I asked my mother for her advice (because I honestly loved both of them when I tried them on) and she said, 'Well, in the tulle dress you look like Cinderella and in the other dress you look like Grace Kelly.' Of course she had to say that because Grace Kelly is sort of my style idol (and Reese Witherspoon of course
). So I'm conflicted. The saleswoman at the store saw me in both dresses and said, 'I realy thought it would be the satin gown with the bow, but seeing you in the tulle dress--that's definitely it.' She said this even though the other one was slightly more expensive.
I really need your HONEST opinions of these dresses and I know it's hard to tell just from a picture but I need all the help I can get. I did put down my 50% deposit 2 weekends ago, but since it's the same designer I'm guessing it would be possible to switch to the other dress.

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
Ok, personally, I live for the grace kelly bow look. HOWEVER, if you have always pictured yourself in a tulle gown (or at least the way you look in a tulle gown), go for it. This isn't about what we would pick, it's about what you want for yourself that day.Ok, so that was NO help at all so I'll just give you these

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
Jennie:Dress #1, your dress, is very princessy and certainly has the fairytale quality. It is lovely but would certainly tend to create a bottom focus. Dress #2, is more sophisticated and probably forgivingof a little tummy/hip because of the dropped waist, princess seam, and A line. YOu are a stunning girl, so I would expect you could wear almost anything but if you are concerned about your hips/bum, that might be a consideration.
P.S. I am a Grace girl, too!

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
Hi,Ok this is going to sound really strange, but I feel like your personality or the personality that translates through the boards is perfect with the tulle, its so girly and pretty, and I think your first instinct is always the right one..Don't judge yourself by the pictures..seriously, my dress, the one I tried on in the store looked eh...but its was the dress I loved...the dress kept slipping off of me and my boobs were hanging out, obviously thats not the look I'm going for my wedding day
Don't worry and stick with the tulle!!!

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
I think both are beautiful and of course this would be easier if we saw a picture of you in both. BUT since I met you in person and know what you are like (somewhat!) I think the second one 'fits' you better. This is just my opinion of course, I am sorry if I am of no help!

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
I am a little concerned that the bodice on #1 is going to shorten me a bit--both because it's not a drop waist and because of the line of sequins right under the bodice. I was going to call Richard to find out if a) they can take out that middle line of sequins and b) if they can elongate the waist so it looks more like this one (which I also loved, but you couldn't really see the corset-type detail as much in person):

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
This is a hard one without seeing you in each dress. But I totally understand not wanting to look 'wide'. Is one more comfortable than the other one? A lot of tulle is heavy- my dress has a similar skirt.

I looked at the pictures yesterday and I feel like I resemble a triangle with the veil on--little head on top flaring out to a wide base. I think I'm going to make an appointment to go back to the store and try on the 2 dresses to do a side-by-side (sort of) comparison. The sales associate is going to love me I'm sure.

Looking at just the dress I like #1 more because I just dont like the second one how there is a space between the bow and the skirt part.

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
Aww Jennie - I thought you were so solid about the dress choice.I love them both - and like the others said - I 'd have to see them on. My personal style would be to go with the bows (similar, actually, to a dress I have in mind) BUT there must be a reason why you picked the tulle. If it were me I would stick with the first choice. You are probably going to have dress remorse if you switch it back.
Gee - that wasn't much help either. Definitely go back with your mom and see them on.
Oh - and I wouldn't recommend changing / re designing either dress - it may not turn out how you planned.

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
I like the poofy dress better, #1. It's so princessy! I think you should go with whichever you feel better in, whichever flatters your figure the most. You can't go wrong, they're both beautiful.

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
I am biased b/c I really do not like tule .....but if you're going for more a grace kelly 'look' i'd go w/ the satin skirt. - I think it's much more of a 'refined' look. - the tule gown is very pretty, but it's a completely different 'look'....more cutsey.......

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
my biased opinion would be to go with the satin - but that's because i just personally don't like tulle. so that's no help...i say go to the place all by yourself and try the dresses on side by side. see which one gives you the warm and fuzzies, and go with it. don't let anyone sway you!

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
Both of them are gorgeous and I'm sure will photograph nicely. I love shiny silk satin so I probably would have gone with the bow one. But, like some other girls have said, you must have really liked the other one on you as well. I am also sure that since it is the same designer they will be more forgiving with the deposit. I would love to see a pic of you in both, I'm sure they are equally beautiful on you!

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
i said to stick with the tulle because you're so adorable and you will look like such a princess!!!!!
but then again, you have to be happy with your decision no one else can make it for you

Re: Dress Dilemma (long!)
I agree with what some of the others have said because I personally am not a tulle girl. The bow dress looks more classic to me and that's my style. But I'd have to see both on you too to make a better decision.

For three thousand dollars, she can love or despise you. You should feel like a queen on your day and be totally confident in your decision. Try it on 40 times if you need to!
