Duet Nationality a problem?

Duet Nationality a problem?

----before answering... this isn't a bias or personal attack.. just curious. Some people don't feel comfortable around other people or some people don't understand others accents and this is the reason why i ask. ----

Any one that has used or plan on using Duet for both Pics and Vid, was nationality a concern or an issue? Were their any langauage barriers? I went for my appoiment and loved there new style layout they have. The price is better then expected and i hope something good happens.

I am using Duet for Photo and I have no problem with their nationality or accent. I had a bit of a problem when people felt that way about me when i first moved here. They seemed perfectly fine during our meeting, so I don't anticipate a problem.

i know many brides on this board have used them and are extremely happy with their services and product.

there is an official 'duet thread' somewhere on here. you should read it.

i had no problem with the service. I saw the offical thread and loved it. I checked it out and what not. Soon as i walked in, there they were. Not that i label them differnently but it just took me off guard who they were. I ask for references cause i'm come out very dark in pictures and 3 mins later, they said you will be fine and showed me photos. Thank for feedback:)

I would understand that some people would be a litte hesitant since they have an accent and may not speak perfect english. But I think that you really have to look at the work that they produce - it speaks for itself. They have done many weddings and know what shots need to be taken, you just have to really express what you want and they will understand. They may not be able to talk to you without an accent, but that doesn't mean that they don't understand you. I went to see them and many other photographers and they had by far some of the most visually beautiful albums.

yeah...Nicole was great. The photograhper would of met with us but being saturday, they were off to a wedding. We got a chance to see him (i think Eric) and was all dress up and looking sharp. The albums were great. Go figure i want the one that cost the most. hehe

i now wish we had checked them out, at the time i was looking no one had used them yet on the boards, and heard others say they didnt understand much english, so i picked another place(which i love), but i wish i had checked them out cause i could have saved $2,000... i guess it all depends on who you feel most comfortable with

It wasn't for 2003Oct10 and she had a large bridal party. I have met with them several times and never had a problem.

Quite honestly the language thing was a concern of mine for about 5 minutes but they never misunderstood what we were asking and were on the same page as us the whole time and from their work, they obviously haven't had any problems communicating when it comes to taking pictures. We booked them without hesitation and we haven't given it a second thought.

Re: Duet Nationality a problem?

I just booked with them. I didn't have a problem with the accent, and previous bride's didn't have a problem either. Eric, the videographer, admited his english isn't that great, although he completely understood everything we said, and vice versa. But he also said that the photographers were brought up here, so they don't have a problem with their english. Hope this eases your concern.

I totally understand the question. In my experience I found that Nicole speaks English well and so did our videographer. Eric's English is not as good as theirs, but I have never had a problem communicating with him. They did a really fabulous job on our video. Everyone who sees it is amazed at the quality of work and if I tell them how much I paid they're jaws drop!

Re: Duet Nationality a problem?

FH and I met with them on Friday and felt very comfortable with them. I don't think that language will be an issue. I think their work speaks for themselves.

Sometimes a person's accent will always be strong not matter how long they have been in the US. My father has been in the US for almost 30 years and still has a thick carribean accent. But if you don't feel comfortable don't book with them. Follow your instincts (sp??)

ETA: We ended up booking with them yesterday!
