e-party / a true hurricane story

Well it all started on Saturday morning when I should have know Murphys law was at work in my house. We have been running around for 2 days doing the final touches to my daughter and her FH e-party. I get up early and start the last minute run around before a house full of company arrives. You know the last quick vaccumning and the quick bathroom once over. My first inkling things were going wrong was when our company from Bridgeport missed the 8:30 ferry and said they would have to make the 9:30 one. OK I can't change it I'll have to deal with it. So back to the Suzie Homemaker routine. In the mean time my DH is sitting on the computer surfing the net. He finally decides he's going upstairs to get dressed. Now I know the how this plays out. First I let him go up there and play in the closet awhile. Then he comes down to tell me he has nothing to wear and he has to go to the store. He wanted nothing to do with clothes shopping 2 weeks ago when I said something. NO NOW HE HAS NOTHING TO WEAR! So we go up to the closet together. how about this...no it doesn't fit. How about this...no I don't like that....how about this....no I don't have shoes for that...what about the black ones...no they hurt. Well after 32 combinations he finally finds something to put on. OK get out of my way I have to shower. So I get showered and dressed in the dress and sandels I bought 3 weeks ago for this occasion. Except the sandels have no back so i decided that I would have to wear them without stockings because the stocking would make my feet too slippery and I would slide out. So I take a look in the mirror and my legs look like 2 straws from McDonalds they are soooo white. OK what do I do now? Oh yeah I have that spray on tan I bought I'll just spray it on and I won't look so bad! Now where to spray it on? I'll just step into the shower stall. Well it was a success until I stepped out and there on the bottome of my shower was 2 pure white footprints and the shower was also sportin' a nice tan! So now I'm down on my knees tring to scrub this #*##@*& stuff off. I have the hand held shower head in my hand and go to turn the water on and it shoorting water all over the place. And it ain't comin' off. OK the heck with it I'll deal with that later. I rub my face in my makeup bag and if I must so so at least I'm having a good hair day. Now my son decides that he doesn't want to drive home from the party so he and his date will go with us in my big car. so off he goes to pick her up. Off we go to pick up the company from the ferry. We'll meet back home and be on our way. Does anyone remember the weather on Saturday morning? Well we get to the ferry and we are late! The ferry is sitting at the dock with the front open. So I go running out into the deluge. I give up with the umbrella. I give up with the hood. I give up with the good hair day! I'm standing there about 10 minutes trying to figure out what going on waiting for my company only to find out the ferry at the dock is the 10:30 to Bridgeport. Someone got hurt and it had to turn around and come back in to take the person off in an ambulance. My company is still out in the harbour bouncing around. OK so I run back to the car to wait...and I lool down only to see my tan has turned into rivers of white and brown streaks running down my legs How come it didn't wash off the shower with just plain water??? So we get the company in the car...run home pick up my son & date and i am trying to put on stockings in a car full while I'm soaking wet and we are late! Now we were suppose to meet up at my mothers house with more out-of-towners and go to the party but now there isn't any time for that. so I'm giving my hard of hearing Mother directions how to get there over a cell phone that doesn't have very good reception on the best day.

Could this happen to any one else but ME???
