Theresa I say do what you and Ron want. You are doing a hell of job of it and your wedding will be amazing!! We are having our e-party at the Coral House and don't feel one bit bad about it. You know how much it stressed me out!

We are having a sit-down for four hours. However, we are running the party straight through. As people are coming in, hors d'ouevres will be served. Around 8:30 pm, we will make our entrance to a spanish house song. I can't remember the name of it but in clubs people go crazy when they hear it. We will walk around the entire dance floor kind of waving to people and stuff, dancing at the same time-in a weird sort of way. After that we will start dancing in the middle and the DJ will ask everyone to join us. I am avoiding the slow song dancing thing and going straight to the partying. The DJ will keep running dance music straight through the salad course so that the guests can have their entree course taken.
And then it keeps going.
I am not making a big scene about the cake. I want the partying to continue. He will make an announcement over the mike of what we are doing, meanwhile dance music is continuously playing.

I know you and Ron are partyers so maybe that may help you to extend the partying a bit.

What is the big deal??? I didn't have an e-party at all and if I did I would have had something more casual because that is what I would have preferred. If Theresa wants to have a huge wedding and a semi-huge e-party that is her business. Her question was whether we thought a sit down or a cocktail party with appetizers would be better. Not many people even responded to that. Instead there are all sorts of judgments being made about the size of her wedding and teh location of her e-party. I also don't know anyone who has had a big engagement party at a locale where wedding receptions are held. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it. If Theresa can afford it and that is what will make her and her FH happy, why should any of us care.

Theresa, I think that if you are having a sit down at the wedding then you should have a cocktail party for the e-party and vice versa. The best of both worlds

I think you should do what makes you happy, but I think a less formal e-party is a great way for people to met, and get to know each other better. A cocktail party allows people to walk around and speak to more people than a formal sit-down dinner. Also, since you are having 400 people at your wedding, you might want to keep this more intimate so that you can spend time with as many people as possible. At the wedding you will not get much 'quality' time with people.
(Oh, just so you know most places offer 2nd or 3rds to guests at a wedding if they want it, but normally people have eaten a lot at the cocktail hour and after their meal want to dance instead of eat more food)

YOu have no idea what your kind words mean to me..

I have never seen such cattiness in my WHOLE LIFE .. And I went to an all girls hs and I thought those girls were TUFF to deal with..

This girl really pushed it with her comments especially about being in the mafia.. She def has some issues.. I would love for her to have the nerve to say that to my face. If she had such a personal problem with me have a big e party and wedding she could have fm'ed me about it..

I know there are other girls on here who had big e partys.. Why aren't they made fun of or asked if they are connected...

I didn't ask about 2nds and 3rds.. I never heard about it so when I did I was shocked.. That was all about that.

We have Christmas Eve with 75 people alone.. My family is very large and that is only my fathers side of the family, then we have Moms side and then Ronnies parents and our friends... So cutting the list in half for the e party isn't easy..

I don't get why the #'s are such an issue for other people..You aren't paying for my party so leave it be already!

If this means having the Phil harmonic play as you walk down the aisle in a custome made vera wang dress, then so be it, if this means have juliard's string quartet play during cocktail hour in the reception, hey more power to ya, if having your e-party on the top of the empire state building while fireworks spell out your name and ronnie's name then go for it.

this is yours and ronnie's time (but if you ask brian its all about the bride) and you guys do what makes you happy.

No matter what you want to do, its something special between you and ronnie and sharing it with your friends and family.
