Withthe controversy in Fl in 2000, and all of the things we're hearing in the news, also with the new computerized voting and how insecure that can be, do you lose faith in this elecion or the process or fear tat fraud or mistakes will swing the race unfairly?
I mean nationally. I think NY has some of the safest voting around, PLUS, we're going Dem anyway.

Re: Election Fraud
i never thought it would happen, but the last election proved me wrong, so i have very little faith in the system as it stands. not sure how i would change it though....that's my main problem

i mean it could definitely happen and because of what happened last time, there will be suspicion from the other side

Re: Election Fraud
I thinkso much went wrong in the 2000 election and so much has continued to go wrong since (with the machines itself, biased felon laws, fake lists, other fraud, and the easily hacked computer machines) that no matter who you felt should ahve won in 2000, you have to recognize that there's a problem. And it's really scary if we can't trust our won elections. One of the things we boast as being the 'leader of the free world' is having fair elections, however, I don't think it's the case.
if Gore should ahve won, as I bleieve, then the wrong man is president and the entire system is useless.
If Bush should have won, there shouldn't have been so much contest and hooplah surrounding it. A president shouldn;t have to enter office with any question of whether he or she was rightly elected.

I'm worried that right now Florida is considered a swing-State .. maybe they should just give it (Florida) to Bush (again).

Re: Election Fraud
I think that there is a REAL possibility of fraud in Florida. The fact that the voting there isn't independent of the Republican party is quite scary- coupled with Bush's brother being the Governor.. he has no interest to make the election fraud-free.
They are disenfranchising African Americans (who vote democrat) but not Hispanics (who vote Republican).. there are so many HUGE RED FLAGS down there..
I wouldn't be surprised if something like 2000 happened again.

I agree. I just hope that the watchdog groups will be on their toes to see that the poll clammoring doesn't happen again, and the fake arrests, and the fraudulent voting cards

DJPill- What? Give you a break about what? It's true. it's documented. Black felons and other blakc people who weren't felons but had similar names were jept form voting, the lists had very few hispanics on them, tey were selective lists. it was a complete debacle.

Furthermore, people who were attempting to get to the polls were being pulled over & then subsequently arrested on the grounds of fake lDMV documents, even if they were real. They were held until the polls closed.
And don't even get me started on the voting machines...stupid butterfly punch...yeah, like miami-dade voted for Buchanan...not in this lifetime

Calling the whole state and its govenor a fraud is just
Has it ever occured to anybody that maybe if they did the voting the proper way and had no card issues... Dubya would have won the state by more?

Do you not watch the news? I'm not being political here- those are facts... pull your Repulican head out of your *** and look at what really is going on. It's very easy to say, 'oh it's just the Democrats complaining' instead of really LOOKING at the situation. Free elections are the hallmark of our society, our Government and our nation- and at this point, I think there's potential for a lot to go wrong.. and that isn't right- this is America..
in 2000 many African Americans were disenfranchised in Florida based on past jail time.. but they were allowed to vote and were somehow put on a 'not allowed to vote list'.. that is a fact.
Kathleen Harris, who was the head of Florida Election Committee in 2000 was also the head of Bush's re-election campaign... so for an outsider, how does that look? Not very un-biased. I would say the SAME thing if it was a Democrat in that situation I would say the same thing. And THAT is a fact.
As far as I knew, up until about 2 weeks ago, there were again, those lists of African Americans who were eligible to vote on those non-eligible lists....
Jimmy Carter runs an institute monitoring free elections in the World. And while he is a Democrat, I have to say he is a statesmen used by both Democrats and Republicans- and even he said that the standards for a free, impartial election in Florida were not there.

Re: Election Fraud
There was too muhc going on in florida to list, but I've been following it closely in the times (of course in buried articles a lot fo the time) over the summer and the stuff that went on would shock you. SHOCK you.
The first 10 minutes of fahrenheit 9/11 made me CRY, and even if you hate Michael moor, nown of it was his opinion, it was actual senate footage. How can we just disenfranchise voters like that? Even if you don't believe it was a republican conspiracy, you have to realize that something went VERY wrong in 2000, and it went WAY beyond hanging chads and absentee ballots.

God... sometimes in the back of my mind I wish Kerry would actually win this so it won't be four more years of whining by the left side.

Re: Election Fraud
I am not saying that Bush 'stole' the elections- what is past is past, and like it or not, he is the President.
Whether he would have won by more or not is not he question.
What is the issue is that the way it stands now, there are a lot of things in Florida, and other parts of this great country, that are impeding free elections..
So that's not Lame.. your disdain for the topic is.
