Engaged during YOUR Reception?!

what would you do/ how would you feel if a couple got engaged during your reception?!

I think this is a tough situation! Maybe it depends on if they asked for permission before hand, or how close you are to the couple... I personally don't know how I would feel!

I'd be happy if I knew. I'd be shocked and a little upset if it were a surprise and all the sudden the reception was interrupted so the guy could propose.

I would honestly be very upset... at someone elses wedding is no place to pop the question in my opinion. Even if someone asked me for permission I would tell them I would prefer if they didn't.

I would be a bit peeved, i don't want to sound bridezillaish but i don't want anyone in the spotlight except FH and I....JMO

If it was one of my good friends then I'd prob be happy. if it was our best man and his girlfriend (I can't stand her) then i'd be really pissed!

I would be a little annoyed...even more so if I knew nothing about it. Then all the congrats will be going to THEM, rather then FH and I... after we already spent all that money on OUR day...ya know? If I knew about it though, i think i would be OK... b/c then I would have had time to let it set in and all that LOL

NO way!!! Like someone said b4 its MY day NOT theirs. Plus Im sure they wouldnt want to share the spotlight with a bride.
And I would hope if someone was considering doing this at a wedding they would ask the bride and groom first.

If the guy asked if he could propose at your reception, I would say you'd appreciate it if he wouldn't. If he proposes anyway, at least you did what you could do stop it.

I would consider myself a pretty laid back person.. and I'm with you girls: NO WAY!! I would definately be mad.. I wouldn't let it ruin my day but I'd definately be pissed at whoever had the nerve to do it

It's rude to do! Unless it was planned with you before hand and BOTH the bride and groom and familes of the bride and groom don't mind then OK.. but just ok... not oh yea go for it! It's still off beat to me. And I would have to question.... WHY? Why would you want to do that at someone else's event? What's so special at someone else's wedding that would make you want to propose there? And imagine being the girl who is being proposed to???? I'm sorry but if that were me.. I would feel soooo embarrased and awkard! I would wonder if the whole roomfull of people think we are just rude people and i would feel sooo bad about that ... it would take away from the engagement for me.
