eternity or 1/2 way?

I am trying to decide if I should get an eternity wedding band or just go 1/2 way around. I orignallly wanted 1/2 way because I was afraid of the stones on the bottom getting damaged. But now every is telling me to get the eternity all the way around b/c it looks the same always and you dotn have to worry if it twisted the wrong way, yadda, yadda, its classic blah blah blah.

What do you guys think? I am so not into jewerly, never was but I want a nice wedding band.

so funny i always thought i would get eternity, more bling ya know? everytime i went to try the band on, it made my fingers spread apart and looked really weird. i ended up finding one that goes a little more than halfway around and I am soooo happy with it. its so much more comfortable, and the diamonds are bigger than the eternity ones .

mine actually ended up being only like $100 less, so it wasnt about the $$, just the comfort

I agree about the 1/2 way around ring being the better of the two in my opinion. Firstly, friends that I know who have the eternity band say it gets uncomfortable once in a while. Secondly, the jeweler reminded me that if by chance any stones were lost on a ring, you would have to match the stone almost exactly for it to fit in the setting. I guess that can be true of either ring, but a person may be more prone to losing a stone on an eternity band.

go half-no one can tell the difference. While eternity bands are quite lovely, I think in some ways they are impractical. For one, you can't resize your ring and two, how many people are going to see inside part of your hand? One more thing-you will constantly be worrying about losing diamonds because you use that part of your hand (the inside) more often than the other side of your hand.

DEpends upon the size of the stones and the setting.

Mine is channel set, eternity. IMO the channel setting makes it more comfortable... less sbility to get caught on things, especiallly once you have the kiddies.

if I were you, I would try some of them on first before you decide.

some people (present company included) don't like enternity bands because it's not comfortable - unless they are channel set.

Well the jewler who made my e-ring & who is making my wedding band is a family friend & they told me that 1/2 way around was better b/c if it ever needs to be resized it is easier b/c the entire ring doesn't have to be taken apart and it just isn't worth the money to go all the way around especially if you are getting a channel set. I am getting it so that it goes half way around and figure it will look the same as if it went all the way...the only one who will know is me

bottom line- its very expensive (if not imposible) to get it sized
i say go halfway! plus the eternity bands do spread your fingers apart

I think 1/2 way is more practical.. but me personally I love the look of the eternity band!! It took awhile to get used to it but I don't even feel it anymore!

Being you're not into jewelry I would go with the half diamonds because it is more practical and it's true no one is going to see the diamonds on the back of your finger. The only way you will know is if you try them on and see which looks best, feels more comfortable and suits you.

FH wanted me to get diamonds half way around but I always loved eternity bands. FH didn't like the idea at first because he thought I would loose the diamonds and besides who would see the diamonds on the back of my finger.

Anyway, it turns out the jewelry place we purchased the wedding bands from said the ring is covered for a lifetime so if I were to loose the diamonds they would replace them (the diamond/s) free of charge. With that we were happy and made the purchase and I got the eternity band I always wanted.

You may want to check with the jewelry place to see if they have a policy similar to the one I got. If you'd like FM and I'll be more than happy to give you the information as to where I got my band.

you have to try them on and make sure you like how it looks and feels.

it's a matter of preference

IMO, more diamonds are always better.

I have an eternity band and I don't find it to be uncomfortable, and I'm not worried about losing any diamonds.

Go try them on and see which you prefer.
I wasn't sure either but once I put the eternity band on I fell in love with it. Good luck
