Okay, I was getting really worried about all the closing talk because BBB, Macy and Bloomies dont carry the China I picked out... so I called the Westbury locatation to ask and the saleslady told me that they are no longer taking credit cards (on any kind! ) the saleslady flat out told me that she thinks they are closing by the end of the month because they are letting everyone go and that they have nothing in stores anymore. She then told me that even the clearance center store in LI is closing!

Hey girls 10-er crashing...wanted to give you some info that I know on this situation...

One of the men I work with, his wife works in the jewlery department at the Source location...She said that all of the jewlery prices have been marked up considerably and then with the current 'discount' they are offering they are really selling it for full price and letting people think that they are getting a sale price...So please PLEASE be careful if you are going to buy any kind of jewlery from there!!!

The store in Manhattan is empty, we walked by there last week. Fortunoffs has been a staple my whole life. My mom registered there. I had planned on registering there my whole life. This s_cks!

this is nuts! Im really happy someone (pretty sure my Grandma) bought all my bedding- it was the only one I really loved!

You know I passed by the 57 street one like a mth ago and they had this sign saying its moving back to 5 ave and now I read here and on the website its closed.

I just called too. They are not accepting any gift cards at this time!!! The girl I spoke to said to go in and see what a manager would do but they may not be able to do anything! She also mentioned that the store is not telling the employees much and they are trying to sell but it does not look good!!

Of course, I just put my beautiful bedding on my registry... I'm so upset. And on top of that I bought jewelry for my bridesmaids and I am waiting for it to come in. I am actually going to go there tomorrow and return all the bridemaids gifts bc I cant take a chance of the rest of the pieces not coming in or the store closing.. I would lose too much money.

If I hear anything else I will let everyone know!

They're still accepting gift cards - I just used mine today.

Oh no I ordered my wedding band from them!! Its supposed to be in 2/15, I just hope that its not delayed with all this mess going on.

FYI- go to bloomberg.com for details. they merged a few months back with lord n taylor. rather lord n taylor bought them out but is keeping the name bc well.. its a name that sells. its here to stay but some stores did close. some stores only sell jewlery in the city. They are not all like the source location. I think we are all safe for our weddings

My mom worked in the corporate office (she left in 2006) and I couldn't believe what was going on. I know the economy is one thing, but this does not surprise me.
