Extremely late wedding dinner, help!!?
My wedding is in a few weeks and it's a late evening wedding (ceremony at 7).Cocktail hour with a ton of food is 730-830, reception 830-1230. Just found out the main course most likely won't be served until 9:45/10 pm.
I'm kind of freaking out as this is extremely late! Should I warn everyone??

I have been to weddings where the dinner was served then and we were not told but it is to be expected when a wedding is starting at 7. I don't think it is necessary to warn guest. Guest will have the cocktail hour to have a little something to hold themselves over till dinner is served. I'm also a JT bride their cocktail hours are no joke no one will even be hungry after lol.

I think since your cocktail hour pretty much starts right after your ceremony you're good. If there was a big gap plus a late dinner you're guests may be starving, but with yours they should be fine!

We are having similar timing at Fox Hollow- our ceremony is at 730, cocktail hour 8-9 reception 9-1. Fox hollow is doing a hospitality thing prior to our ceremony w wine and a few passed bites - maybe you can ask for that if your worried But I don't think you need to warn anyone. There's going to be so much food during the night I'm sure no one will be hungry

I think that's typical for evening weddings. I wouldn't worry at all. My ceremony is at 7 too. I didn't even ask what tile dinner will be. I know it's late, but I don't think anyone will be watching their cells or watches for the time. People won't be starving cause of cocktail hour and then the wedding will play out with first dance, toasts, etc. before you know it the food will be out. No worries!

This is the way our wedding is going to go time wise, and honestly I didn't even think twice about it until I read your post, so I wouldn't worry. As others said, I'm sure if people are going to a wedding that starts at 7 they're not expecting to eat dinner at 8pm. Cocktail hour will hold them over.

My sister got married this past November with the same timeline. Not a single person complained. It was just expected. Don't worry!

I don't think you need to warn people. Late night weddings people just tend to eat later. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you are worried about eating too late, a lot of weddings do dinner right away, and then just have the dancing part of the party straight through.

No reason to warn your guests. Our wedding is in the late evening as well. Everyone will enjoy themselves at the cocktail party so no worries sweetie. Just one less thing you have to worry about. Whoo hoo!

I was just looking for this post! I just found out my is 10pm!! Cocktail hour starts at 7pm. I am thinking push it a little earlier to 930...I don't ever remember worrying when dinner is, but some of the older folks may mind!

My cocktail hour starts at 7:30 also and I don't plan on warning guests of what time dinner might be served. We are having a ton of food at the cocktail hour so I know everyone will need a bit of a break from eating before dinner. I've been to a wedding where we didn't get served dinner until about 11:00 and no one seemed to mind because cocktail hour was so big.Welcome New Vendors
