Fall Brides...Do I need a shawl?

Fall Brides...Do I need a shawl?

I am trying to figure out if I will need a shawl or something for my wedding.

We are getting married on Oct 30th...the ceremony is @ a church @ 2, and the cocktail hour starts at 6. In between we are taking pictures...hopefully outside, depending on the weather at Old westbury gardens.

My question is, do you think I will need a shawl in case it is cold, or do I just suck it up. My dress is strapless. I am ordering cranberry colored pashminas for my BM's since they too will be wearing black strapless dresses with a cranberry sash...but what do I do about myself.

What are all you fall brides doing???

I will be ordering a shawl, my wedding is a week after yours, and if I need it I will use it. If I don't need need then oh well.
Better to be safe then sorry.

What kind of shawl are you getting...does it match your dress or is it a pashmina???

I'm not getting one and I'm strapless too... I realize that I'll probably be freezing but...I can't really wear it during pictures and how much help is a shawl going to be for me in November anyway...

The weather can go either way that time of year - how stongly do you feel the cold?

Between the weight of the dress, excitement & adrenaline, you will probably be warmer then usual but if you are someone that tends to be cold, you should get a wrap or shawl for between pictures.

It all depends if u want a shawl to be in ur pics or not. If u dont want to then carry around like a jacket in between pictures so if ur cold u put it on for a few till your warmed up. Also if a shawl you want is not alot of money then go for it it all depends on your taste and how u feel about it.

I purchased pashminas for the winter from a seller on ebay from Hong Kong last year. They were ten dollars a piece. I bought 6 different colors for myself and 10 as Christmas gifts for co-workers and friends. They were a huge hit. They are soft and warm. They are not heavy fabric like some of them. Thought you might want to check it out. Did I mention that I LOVE ebay. Oh and they were delivered in 4 or 5 days. He uses global express mail. He has some red tones and a burgundy. Here is the link.

Ebay Pashminas - quantity of 10

Ebay link to buy just 1 pashmina -$8.99 plus shipping

Hope this helps!

What color is your dress? This ivory white one might work.

Yes- I'm going to have a shawl on hand. My wedding is the beginning of October so I probably won't need it, but you never know. My mom is giong to make it for me as soon as I get a swatch of the dress. (She knits. We need the swatch to match the yard color.)

I think you should have a shawl. It's better to not need it than to be cold.

Could be totally the opposite too...my wedding was November 1 last year and it was 79 degrees!! I was dying!

I'm getting married the same day as you and I have the same question! My dress is a blush color so I haven't been able to find a shawl to match. I'm thinking maybe a little jacket or a fake fur stole or something. (We're having a masquerade ball so I might be okay will something a little over the top!)

I got married in late october and wore strapless - I had bought a shawl to wear but never used - it still has the tags on it. My BM's wore theirs in between pictures outside (they were freezing) but I never wore mine. Tell you the truth I never really got that cold....I think it was just excitement and adrenaline. And I had a very breezy, damp day.

Date Twin Oakslady, where are you getting the cape? I was thinking of something like that, too. Though I'm afraid I blew the whole clothes budget on the dress!

i got married in nov...and borrowed a shawl from a friend whose mom made it for her - it was white silk - matched my dress! - and filled with batting - very nice..... i never even used the thing - it just kep beign thrown from one place to the next....if you want to save $$$, screw it, don't get it b/c you won't be outside that much anyway...we took pics outside too and i was a little chilly at times but it wasn't too bad...i kinda felt, hey i spent all this $$ on my dress, i am going to show it!! lol! ...
