All, what are you doing with your favors - one per person or one per couple?
Does it depend on what the item is? If so - why?
Thanks!

Re: Favors: One per person or one per couple?
OK....I have an additional question.
FH and I were thinking of doing 1 per couple (we are doing cd's...so i dont think anyone would really want 2). BUT....my delima is...how do we give them out???? In order for it to be 1 per couple, do we have to make them the place cards....or can we leave them on the tables...or do we have someone hand them out to each couple as they enter the reception? How should we work this....THANKS LADIES!

If its something that they will keep-ice cream scoop, etc. I would say one per If its edible one for each guest. We havent decided what we are doing yet-but that is what I was going to do

We're giving out ice cream scoops so it'll be one per couple. There's no need for 2 of those in the household!
But I agree, edible favors should be one per person. It all depends on what fits into your budget!

I have always been to weddings where the favors were one per person, not per couple. But You can whatever you want. I think one per couple is better because the couples don't need double favors, it's almost like a waste of money. JMO

We did one per person since we did chocolate. If I were doing a larger food favor, like a full sized bottle of wine, I would do one per couple. If I were doing a gift, I would do one per couple.

Generally 1 per couple, but if it's something small and edible, like a candy bar, then one per person, bottle of wine, one per couple

Call me crazy, but, I never understood why people can spend thousands on a wedding, but not spend an extra couple of hundred for favors. You are inviting people to a party, where they will most usually give you a gift (monetary), and not send them home with anything? Even if they are going to throw it out, or it will collect dust? I think its completely rude not to give a favor. Just my opinion, though i will probably be slammed for it.

1 per couple unless it is edible. Lots of people forget their favors and if they don't, of course we think they are all on display at our guests homes.....

I'm not going to slam you for it. I'm doing favors. but I went to a millionaire's daughter's wedding and there were no favors.
it's a personal choice and not done by all.

Sue, what was yours again?
It was a heart shaped box. It was silver with mother of pearl on the top and fully lined on the inside with blue velvet.
My MIL paid for them because she didn't like my 'cheap' ideas. At $10 each, they ended up costing more than I paid for my whole video package.
my favors are $12 each + tax...but its what my fh wants..so they are costing me more than my dj and my videographer combined

Who said you'll get to keep them? At the end of the night, all of my in laws ran around the reception room grabbing things while I was still saying good night to my guests. The same family took home 3 (THREE) centerpieces, in addition to a BAG full of my favors. They have enough to use as favors at another party. Even the flower girl basket was taken.

Re: Favors: One per person or one per couple?
we are doing full bottles of turning leaf wine, we will be giving out one per couple. We are also having the slipper basket which is a little something extra for the ladies, and we are doing a cigar table w/ personalized matches which is a little something for the guys. this way everyone will be going home with something!
