feeling bummed out

Do you girls sometimes feel fh isn't as romantic or thoughtful as you would like him to be? I don't know what it is lately..but i feel like fh isn't as romantic as he once was..we've been together for 7 years which could be why..but lately its been making me upset..i actually cried all morning about this..I feel like hes not as spontaneous as he was and not as quick to do really cute and unique things to surprise me..don't get me wrong i absolutely love the guy and overall hes great to me..but i just can't help feeling upset over this

I feel the same way sometimes. I got upset about it last week and FH told me that its the stress of his job and worries that we wont have enough money for the wedding. I am sure it is but I miss my spontaneous/romantic guy back too.

Maybe he is going through some of the same things.

omg, i totally know what you mean... all weekend i kept asking him what was wrong... it was our first entire christmas together, waking up together etc. and he got me great gifts and all that but was not romantic at all...

then before i went to look at wedding rings during lunch and i foudn something i loooove - i called him up all excited and he was like 'that's great' but he didn't seem excited at all... so it brought me down. I have to remind myself that he's a guy and won't be excited about diamonds but he never is like lets go together to look for rings or anything wedding related, to the point i hate bringing it up.

mine's not the romantic type at all, but after 4+ years what little romance there was just dwindles... we argue about it but i don't know if there's anything to be done.

sorry so long for you.

Aww I'm sorry to hear. There are always times where I feel, as I'm sure all you girls feel, that we should be getting some more attention. I think that stress affects us differently than men, as well as having our 'time of the month' emotions that go haywire. Talk to him and see if it helps....big hugs!

Re: feeling bummed out

i get upset about that stuff sometimes...dave wouldn't know romance if a romantic novel hit him in the BRAIN!!!! His idea of a gift for me is a sports related sweatshirt....he's NEVER been romantic though and no matter how hard i hint - it won't change....

Every once in awhile i do get upset...but when i realize he does little thoughtful things every now & then....it makes up for it....

Maybe try to talk to him about it....tell him the last Friday of every month you want to do a date night and you have to go out minus friends, do dinner & a movie or bowling or something like that....this way you don't start to take advantage of the 'togetherness' that you already have....

Hope this helps!!!!!!!

hahaha yesss, i know what you mean--mine is not emotional nor 'romantic' my one wish is that he tears up and gets emotional at our wedding

i know what you mean--i would love flowers just because, a card that says i love you...its not that he NEVER does this, he does...but its very rare. haha

I think that stress is definately a big reason! his job is very demanding and he works with mortgages and as you know the housing market is doing terrible..i just wish he would try to make me feel more loved sometime ya know?!? I talked to him about it and he said he feels the same..but it seems like nothing is changing this

Honestly I think after you have been with someone so long it gets like that. You guys are both in much different places then you were 7 years ago and have so many other priorities in life now other then each other. You are buying a house, planning a wedding, jobs, all very grown up things and 7 years ago all he was probably focusing on was the two of you. Don't get bummed. This is normal for all of us.

if it makes you feel better. my engagement was so not a surprise, was not unique and was hardly exciting. i expected it, knew he was going to do it on my birthday, we went to dinner and went home and he proposed. a little anti-climactic and neither of us are the very romantic type, but i would have loved loved loved a good story to tell. But i think those crazy romantics are less common than we think.

Dinner is great. This may be a weird suggestion but we love going to Comedy Clubs like Gotham in NYC. There's nothing sexier than sharing a laugh together...
