honestly, kristin i think this happens to almost EVERYONE and those that say no are in the minority
thanks laura..your probably right..i hate to say it but my sister just got engaged and he put so much thought into it and for me i feel like it was too spur of the moment..don't get me wrong..it was the happiest moment in my whole life..but i just wish he would have done something more unique
if it makes you feel better. my engagement was so not a surprise, was not unique and was hardly exciting. i expected it, knew he was going to do it on my birthday, we went to dinner and went home and he proposed. a little anti-climactic and neither of us are the very romantic type, but i would have loved loved loved a good story to tell. But i think those crazy romantics are less common than we think.
thats kind of how i felt about mine..and i feel so selfish saying that..i would never want to hurt his feelings ...and your probably right im sure they're are less romantics then it seems to be!!
thanks again girls for the support..i really appreciate it

Honestly I think after you have been with someone so long it gets like that. You guys are both in much different places then you were 7 years ago and have so many other priorities in life now other then each other. You are buying a house, planning a wedding, jobs, all very grown up things and 7 years ago all he was probably focusing on was the two of you. Don't get bummed. This is normal for all of us.
your right christine..i never considered this..i just hope we can spice it up soon
try the date night idea - it helped us when we hit a slump....
ok! thanks..only thing is we go out to dinner a lot now..so i'm not sure how to do something more romantic..
Dinner is great. This may be a weird suggestion but we love going to Comedy Clubs like Gotham in NYC. There's nothing sexier than sharing a laugh together...
I'll have to try that too! thanks! and thats something different from our normal night!

Do you girls sometimes feel fh isn't as romantic or thoughtful as you would like him to be? I don't know what it is lately..but i feel like fh isn't as romantic as he once was..we've been together for 7 years which could be why..but lately its been making me upset..i actually cried all morning about this..I feel like hes not as spontaneous as he was and not as quick to do really cute and unique things to surprise me..don't get me wrong i absolutely love the guy and overall hes great to me..but i just can't help feeling upset over this
oh im totally there with u!! especially around christmas because he thinks its just for kids. thats not how i was raised so its hard when he doesnt get into it

Re: feeling bummed out
Yups, have totally felt upset about this...actually talked to FH about it a few days ago. He used to do a lot of cute, romantic things when we first started dating, years ago. He definitely doesn't do half the things he used to (bring flowers to me at work for no reason, serenade me, etc), but I realized that he still does cute things in his own way. So cute now, is calling me after a late night (without me asking him to) to say he loves me....or asking me if I want a bite of his food before he's even had a chance to try it...............a lot of times I have to remind myself that those things are cute too.

Re: feeling bummed out
you know its funny because i cried about this the other day too and thought i was feeling like this just because i was getting my period. and i hope this doesnt come out the wrong way but im glad im not the only one who feels like this because sometimes i feel like i am and its nice to know its not just me going crazy.

Re: feeling bummed out
i get that feeling too. sometimes girls on here post about their FH sending them flowers or saying something incredibly romantic...and i get a little jealous. we've been together for a really long time too...so i think its just less frequent at this point.
but then when i'm least expecting it, he'll say or do something so sweet...it makes up for the fact that he doesnt do it as often as he used to. and i remember that our love grows stronger all the time and sometimes its the other stuff...like him drying my tears when im sad and cheering me up...that means more than the flowers or taking me out to a fancy dinner.
i'm sorry you were feeling down about it but i bet next time he does something sweet you'll feel like it was worth the wait and that its even more special.

Re: feeling bummed out
i know EXACTLY how u feel!!!! we've been together for 6 years but he's never been the romantic type and its always bothered me...this website doesnt help when u constantly read about how someones fh did this or that..but ive def gotten upset several times about this and he'll say he'll try but when it comes down to it..hes just not a romantic type of guy

I think its a comfort thing too....after being together for so many years they figure they don't ahve t odo stuff like that anymore....sometimes we have to give them a nudge and remind them that we still like those things once in awhile....when that dosen't work just let him come home and find you vacuuming naked...that might work
Trust me though...we alllll go through this once in awhile!

Re: feeling bummed out
I can totally relate FH and I have been together 9 yrs and of course that can matter there is big difference bw 1 yr and 9.
FH is still very romantic but he used to be sooooo much more romantic.
Mentioned it to him reecently and his response was ' didn't think i needed to do that all the time anymore.' jhe was genuine in his response..sometimes i think they would benefit from a friendly reminder. Good luck

Re: feeling bummed out
Definitely talk to him about it. I'm SURE you are not the only one.
Sometime I feel like FH lost his 'charm'...like he already won me over so he doesnt try and (or whatever his deal is )
But guys just dont get it..they need to be reminded sometmes
Once in a while the remember and get it right though

I'm soooo hapoy to know that I am not the only one who feels this way....My proposal was nothing special either....FH used to be more romantic.... We have actually been arguing more lately and I'm not sure if it's because of the passing of his mom or not, but I am constantly thinking something is wrong with him, but then sometimes, I think, maybe it's just me.... But I know we will get through this....And I believe alot of the arguing is from us not seeing each other that much....But in 4 months and 1 week, we will get to see each other EVERY day....And that is what I am looking forward to most.....I just wish he would start to get as excited as I am for the wedding....Thanks for listening to me....=)
