Feeling Stressed!!!!!!

Does anyone else feel like they are doing things to please everyone else? Did everyone forget it is our wedding, not theirs? Besides, Scott and I are paying for all of it. AHHHHH, Help.

Thanks for letting me vent.

My fiance and I are paying for our wedding ourselves too but I feel the same way. Don't forget, since you are paying for the entire wedding it's truly YOUR WEDDING. Everyone else can offer opinions, that's it. It's pretty much the only benefit of paying for the wedding yourselves. All my girlfriends are under their parent's thumbs because of the money issue and they almost envy me cuz I am not letting anyone else have any say in the wedding. Hope that helps. Don't stress, everything will work out.

My opinion: don't give people details. Everyone is going to through in their two cents, and try to change your mind on things, and I dunno you, but I absolutely hate it when someone tried to knock down my ideas for something that is completely NOT my taste.

If people become pushy for details, just let them know that it's a 'surprise', and would rather not ruin it for them.. lol.

Thanks everyone. The things that bother me are that my mom keeps adding people to the guest list and at this point I don't know if I am inviting people from work.

Also trying to incorporate both religions into the ceremony without offending anyone when some of the things I'm not sure I want.

Don't worry the same thing kept happening to me, my family and my DH's family kept adding people and finally we had to say - 'listen, if you add any more you will have to pay $$ - because we can't afford it!' You just have to be up front and honest.

we feel the SAME way - I have concluded that weddings are for all the family and the guests and everyone else EXCEPT for the bride and groom. Right now I am sad because I feel like I just can't wait for it to be OVER so I can go on my honeymoon and enjoy regular life again with DH.

OMG My FI and I are paying for the whole wedding ourselves but my future inlaws just keep upping their list. I have tried to tell them nicely that we cant afford it but my FI keeps saying dont worry about it. I love how other people enjoy spending our money

We are paying for our 100% ourselves as well and I made it clear that I will follow through on anybodies suggestion as long as it was followed by a check to pay for it. Needless to say most everyone has learned to keep there pushy suggestions to themselves!!!!!!

YOU ARE ALL READING MY MIND!

I've been so stressed lately! FI and I have been having the best time planning the wedding. We're paying for it 100% so we haven't been including anyone in the plans. Well, both parents got upset and felt left out so we told them what we are planning and the s*!t hit the fan. We're not inviting enough of their friends, why aren't we inviting their cousins that we've met 3 times in our lives, etc.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Good to know others are going through it as well! Keep your chin up and smile! That's what I've been trying to do!

I don't understand how parents don't understand that we cannot invite everyone they see fit to participate (especially if they're not helping out)... including insignificant people in our lives. Traditionally, the wedding reflects them, too, however, it's only right that they contribute if they want the celebration to reflect them more to their liking, ya know? However, traditionally, the brides parents are supposed to pick up the tab - so it's a double-edged sword.

Arghhhhhhhhhh! I share the sentiment! lol

A friend of mine (wo is also engaged) wants to get shirts made up that say, 'If I wanted your !@#$ opinion about my wedding, I'd ask for it.'

I think it is a great idea. Hostile, yes, but great! Hang in there.
