FH and I are having a disagreement.....

I want to know how much my ring cost... and he says that the girl shouldnt know.... do you all know??? or is he right?

I know approximately how much it was. I didn't directly ask him and he didn't directly tell me. It just sorta came up!

Why do you want to know?

The only reason I know is because I had to get it appraised. But it's an heirloom so I didn't care how much or little it cost, it was his mothers and it's special and that's all I care about.

IMO, unless you need to know for appraisal or insurance purposes, I would jsut be happy with it and not push about the cost.

I said i didnt want to know.... then I was the one who called the insurance agency, to ask if they got the fax of our appraisal... and she goes, 'Yes, ma'am you'd like to insure a ring that was XXXXX dollars, correct?'

I dont know and I dont want to know! To me it doesnt matter if the ring was $800 or $8000 its the fact that my FH gave it to me that I love about it!

I knwo the appraised value and honestly I dont want to knwo that much!

For insurance I just let my FH take care of all that! He asked if I wanted to know but honestly I think he prefers that i dont know (even if I do have a rough idea)

FH won't tell me either. But I don't want to know. We have the appraisal papers in our apartment so I could look if I really wanted to but I won't.

I know a ballpark figure, but not exactly. To tell you the truth, I don't really care. It's beautiful, and its more the meaning behind it that's what's important to me. FH picked it out all by himself, and he did a terrific job!

Technically, an e-ring is a gift so I think he has a right to keep this info private. If it is for insurance purposes and he does not want to disclose how much he spent, then let him handle it.

In re: budgeting, he has probably already paid for the ring so it's really not a factor anymore.

I don't know the exact number and truthfully I could care less....Like someone said if it was $800 so be it.....If FI already paid for it then it should not be included in any budget...Just sit back and enjoy the ring....

I have no idea what my E-ring costs, and that's the way I like it. I know what my wedding band cost because I picked it out.

I have an idea what mine was but not because I wanted to know but because of insurance purposes. But if DH didn't want me to know then that would have been fine too because as someone else said it was a gift and that he is entititled not to reveal.

I know what my wedding band cost because we had it custom made.

I'd let it go. if you like the ring - that's all that matters. Maybe he got a good deal and doesn't want you to think there is something wrong with it

I found out how much mine was and was so PISSED!! Personally, I did not want to know, but went I first got the ring it didn't fit , so I went to a jewelry store in BYC to get a ring guard. While in the store the person helping me proceds to tell me the estimated cost of the ring!!! Can you believe that? I did not want to know and he just volunteered that info.
