First Date: Kiss Goodnight or Kiss of Death?

Original post by MonkeyLuv

So Mr Boots and I have been playing matchmaker for his friend BoyScout, and of course the girl he digs (and who digs him) we didn't set up! But she's very cool so we're pleased as punch.

Anyway, BoyScout wants to ask her on a date, but he wants to double with us and go to dinner. I said that's too high pressure for her, Mr Boots thinks it will showcase BoyScout's personality.

So here's my question... What were the best first dates you've been on? What marked the Kiss of Death for a first date?

Ooh Farah... bad scene!

Now, which is a better name for this girl? DateGirl or Girl-He-Digs?

I like Girl He Digs, but if it works out, I think we need to call her Girl Scout

Def not a double date for the first date, too much pressure. Let them figure out if they even like each other's company first.

I think a nice dinner and a game or two of pool or minigolf would be fun.

If 30 seconds = 4 years!!!!

I think I might suggest the drink or coffee after the fair, this was they can kind of get to know one another in a fun low key setting and if they want to go on, they can.

My first date with my FI was a double date, for me it was great because I was really nervous. I think it takes some of the pressure off when there are other people around. It also helps if the conversation starts to lag....

Me too!! I don't eat pretty, so I was very self-concious!

Heather... We all met her at a party last weekend and she's very cool, but they should be on their own for a while. My idea is this: this weekend is the Nautical Mile Festival in Freeport, so I'm going to suggest that BoyScout takes DateGirl out for coffee or something beforehand, and then they can meet up with us if they want!

Good idea? Bad idea?

That could work. It leave it more open, so they could see how it goes.

Upon further reflection, I think I have recalled a bad date.

He had his freinds sneak us into the movies they worked at, one of the freinds who wasn't working joined us for a bit, but then left to partake of some illegal substances, saw a bit of a 2nd movie movie while the working friend finished his shift & my date & druggie friend helped him clean the theatre, then working friend drove us all home while druggie friend hung out of the window in the jeep singing along to O.P.P.

However, it wasn't a last date. The same guy turned out to be a great prom date, but it had already been established we were just going to be friends.

I think it's safest if BoyScout takes out Girl-He-Digs for a little something (ie: coffee) beforehand, and then they can meet up with you two afterwards.

Then, if it isn't going well, it gives them each a different person to talk to to take the focus off of each other....but if it is working then you can all have a good time together and it still takes off some of the pressure.

As long as he doesn't admit to being a racist on a first date - he's waaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of my worst date!

And on a personal note, I never realized Liz was such a young little monkey. What are baby monkeys called?
