FLOWER GIRL DRESS DRAMA!!

Original post by BENETTA2012

I'M HAVING FLOWER GIRL DRESS DRAMA WITH OUR FLOWER GIRLS PARENTS (SET OF SISTERS)....IN YOUR HONEST OPINION, WHAT WOULD BE TOO TOO MUCH TO ASK SOMEONE TO SPEND ON A DRESS?

I FOUND A DRESS I ABSOLUTELY LOVE (ABOUT $125~ISH) AND SENT THE PARENTS AN EMAIL WITH SOME INFO/LINK/PICS/ETC AND GOT THE RESPONSE OF 'TRY LOOKING ON THIS WEBSITE INSTEAD, THE DRESSES START AT $28 HERE'

I GAVE THE WEBSITE A CHANCE AND LOOKED THROUGH THEM ALL AND THE DRESSES ARE COMPLETE CRAP!!!...IT IS MY OWN FAULT FOR OFFERING TO RECONSIDER MY CHOICE IN MY ORIGINAL EMAIL...I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A BRIDEZILLA AND JUST SAID THIS IS THE DRESS LOL ...NOW WHAT DO I DO!?!?

In the whole scheme of your wedding day, think about if the flower girl dress will really make or break your day. If not, maybe you can reconsider. JC Penney's has a bunch of great dresses. Maybe you can even try Estelle's Dresses?

This! There are so many little details that we all get caught up in. There are so many very cute flower girl dresses for very reasonable prices. No one else at your wedding is going to know that there was this other 'perfect' dress. Everyone will think the FGs are adorable in any of the less expensive dresses.

If you really really really love the dress, why don't you offer to help pay for it!?

I got mine from byspecialoccasions.com for $30, and the dresses are well made. I actually just got them last week, and Love them! Try them!

What do you love about your FG dress? Is there a certain aspect you are trying to keep?

seems like you really have your heart set on this dress, if so, I'd definitely offer to help pay for it - especially since the parents kinda nudged you in a less expensive direction. It is your wedding but you should be sensitive to other people, especially when it comes to their money.

If you want it, explain that you love it and will pay x amount.

My flower girl's dress was 50 and she looked friggin adorable. The other girls are right, EVERYONE thinks the flower girl looks amazing whatever they are in. They are kids and can't help being cute!

THIS or just pay for the FG's dresses and that can be your 'gift'

IHMO, anything over $75 is too much to ask a FG's family to pay for their dress. There's a lot of other items the FG will need to have that the parents will pay for, so take that into consideration.

I am sure you can find a dress that will work for $50. The kids are going to run around in the dress plus nobody wants to worry about it getting dirty.

I spent 60, I bought the dress myself bc it was only 60 and this avoided me having anyone tell me, it was too expensive or they found something cheaper or better etc

I agree that 100+ is too much for a flower girl dress

I ordered mine from mygirldress.com

I didnt get it yet, but i read good reviews. They have tons of gorgeous dresses at the $50 mark.

If you have your heart set on it, then offer to pay half and see what they say.

This. $125 for a flower girl dress is insane IMO, unless you pay for it

I think it is a bit too much for dresses. Try JCPenney and also do not just look on websites..go to the actual store. Many dresses look very different in person!

I FEEL TORN!

I HAD A WHOLE CONVO ABOUT THIS LAST NIGHT WITH FH AND HE EVEN SAID 'IDK W-T-F THE ISSUE IS, THEY MAKE MORE MONEY THAN GOD..ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE EUROPEAN AND THATS ACCEPTABLE IN OUR CULTURE'....I GUESS FH MEANS IN THEIR HOME COUNTRY ITS ACCEPTABLE AMONG FAMILY TO ASK EACH OTHER TO SPEND LESS MONEY ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS WITHOUT THEM TAKING INSULT....SIGH.....AS OF RIGHT NOW STILL NO RESPONSE FROM THE MOTHER TO MY EMAIL FROM MONDAY

I don't mean to be harsh, but if $125 per dress is not a lot of money, and it means so much to you' then why don't you just buy the dresses. Then there won't be anymore issues.

125 is a lot for a FG dress. I will be purchasing my FG's entire outfit (dress, shoes, tights and shrug if needed) This will also serve as my gift to her.

i think its crazy to spend that much money on a FG dress,

and not for nothing, who are you guys to say how much money they have i mean maybe they have their personal reasons, just because someone has a lot of money does not mean they are going to blow it on every little thing....

It is really hard to find a decent flower girls dress....I was shocked how many simple and boring ones there were. I was even more shocked to see how expensive the nice ones are!!

Try and see if you can work out a deal with the store your getting your Bridesmaid dresses from....see if they can cut you a deal or if you can go in on some of the cost to make the mother's feel better?

ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHERE TO FIND NICE QUALITY DRESSES FOR NOT A BANK BREAKING PRICE?

Burlington has gorgeous dresses for kids! I am def going to consider this when the time comes. They are so cheap too....i think around $25 each

Agreed. If they are willing to spend $40, you should throw in the remaining $85. Asking the parents to spend $125 for a FG dress is a bit much.
