School supply shopping s ucks!!!! Everything in my son's school has to be color coordinated for each subject. Which is fine and easy for them but, sometimes you just cant find a certain color in anything they ask for or there is one thing you need and they dont have it anywhere but, almost what they are asking for but, its not good enough. I cant find red marble notebooks anywhere and I was just at 5 stores. I have a black and white and a spiral red one...they will have to deal with one of them unless I find it in my hunt to find the items in maroon. Sorry had to vent alittle.
I cant spell today UPDATE at the bottom

As a teacher here is what I have the kids do sinc I dont want them going crazy looking for diff colored notebooks... take a marker and color the edges of the notebook where the paper is showing the color it should be... I find this easier for them especially when taking out of their desks

Why dont you get one of those stretchy book covers in red? Or just have him color it with a red marker. OR see if you can find red contact paper and cover it with that.

Believe it or not, the teacher may not be HIRED yet. Crazy, I know but lots of schools scram for new teachers at the end of the summer when their old teachers tell them last minute that they're not returning!

You can find the book in maroon? Get it. Teachers can't demand certain colors. Thats absurd. You tried - good enough!

I have to get a notebook, 2' and a book cover in maroon. Why can they do easier colors...there are no classes with purple and I keep seeing purple. Im going ot just get him whatever else I can find and thats that. Not bashing teachers, please no one think that, just suck a hassel.

Ugh, that is SO annoying. I don't understand why the school is telling you what to buy for your child. It seems like they are overstepping a little bit. You could always buy a red sharpie and color in the white on the marble notebook!!!

Its not really bashing the teachers in this case, it sounds like something the SCHOOL makes the teachers do. Dont shoot the messenger!

Re: For all you future moms.....
we got a list in june just before school ended. it does say on it additional items may be requested by your teacher. There were a bunch of color specific things witch is easier if you get the list early not like when we went to school 500 people fighting to get the same things the day school started. I love the list before hand but i'd much rather have the whole list if there are extra items the teacher might need. But hey most is better than nothing.

what grade is yours going into? and when does your school start?
my daughter is going into 1st grade i think her list was actually shorter this tear than it was for kindergarten.... OMG the stuff they had on the list last year was just crazy.
our school year starts 9/3 it seemed a little early this year but all good i could use a little break
