ok so yesterday at the wedding, they do the VH which was great btw, but i also felt like hmmm already? but i just thought ok guess time really flew...well after the VH most of the people left even fh's whole family but Fh and i stayed bc he wanted to drink some coffee first...well they take the tables out and then the lights go down again and music comes on and there was about an hour left. The bp and a couple of the younger friends and then their immediate families were there but like i said mostly everyone left, fh and i did dance a little after the VH and then we even left.
This has me thinking now, so is the VH gonna end things early and kind of change the mood of the party. Or are some people doing it as the last hour and nothing after? and then when i thought it was gonna end with the VH i started thinking to myself, is this how i went to end my wedding? i'd rather end it with everyone dancing and partying
i still like it though and when i brought it to FH he said no we have tohave the VH, we already added as an extra but until yesterday i didnt think of this aspect at all. Its funny bc i paid so much attention to things i didn't before and now i have alot to think about lol.

Re: For girls doing Vienesse hour
hmm that is a great point! i think i am doing the VH in the terrace room so that the party can continue in the skylight room. . . i want people to keep dancing
BUT - this brings up my inner turmoil about the after hours - i think that when people see the VH they think it is ending and i am SICK about the after hours - i havent brought it up to FH lately but when i did a few months ago he REALLY wanted that extra hour but for me. . . to pay extra for EVERYONE to stay and then what if only like 20 people stay? and i am paying per person! i get so upset when i think about this - PLUS i am going to probably be up from 8am - will i really feel like partying at 2:30AM ugh i wish i wasnt so indecisive!

Re: For girls doing Vienesse hour
also - i am going to have my first dance - then my dad dance then FMIL dance - right away
that way everyone sees it - i used to smoke and i went outside to smoke at my cousin's wedding and missed her dance with her dad bc i had no idea when it was going to happen!

Every wedding that I have been to with a VH has been amazing but the VH killed the party. After eating, everyone went home even at both there was at least 45 mins of partying left! We are just doing cake, cookies and pastries on the table and an international coffee cart off to the side. We might add the chocolate fountain, but not a full VH.

We are having the extra hour for ours too. I was worried that alot of people would leave before it. But I am glad were doing it. It will give us more time to enjoy the reception!

yeah but if you think about it hte VH adds an hour so its not really taking away from the main party it is just adding to it - like if i didnt have the VH the party would REALLY be over LOL

interesting...never thought about this before. the VH was served in the reception room? My VH is being served as the last hour and it is outside the reception room in the atrium. The way i envisioned it is the DJ announces the VH is beginning but the dancing and music are still on. People can opt to go outside and have dessert or not or just wander back and forth.... ill have to think about this though lol.
That is how I always imagined it to happen. I think I'm having the VH be the final hour though. People can eat or dance. Whatever they prefer.

Our Vienesse hour will be at the end of the reception but it will take place outside on the deck (weather permitting) That way, our guests can still dance and enjoy the music while pigging out on all the cakes and sweets

Re: For girls doing Vienesse hour
I am doing the VH hour and still love it. Our VH hour will not be on the dance floor, but out in the area where our cocktail hour was. It will be the last hour of our reception, so I figure whoever wants to go can go and if you wanna stay great. I know that I also want the DJ to make some sort of announcement (haven't figured out the exact wording) along the lines of dessert is served but the dance floor is still open cause the party isn't over. We'll see what I figure out as time gets closer

That's really a great point you brought up. I've seen that happen at so many weddings. I really would love to do the Vienese hour to kind of elongate my wedding BUT could that extra money possibly go to something really great at CH or towards something else maybe?

yeah see we already added it to our package when we booked our RH, so all this time we've had in mind we're doing it, so it's not even about the money, i just don't want it to end my wedding early lol or not even that but i want it to end with a big bang, everyone going crazy on the dance floor lol not everyone sitting eating lol.

Well, I can tell you from personal experience ( I used to work at Westbury Manor and Sand Castle for years) that the VH ALWAYS changes the party mood. It is really due to the fact that most places bring out carts with stuff, prohibiting people from dancing. Most people feel as if this big display=the end of the party and that after they have coffee and cake they leave. Out of hundreds of parties I've worked, I'd say that 99% of them ate and left and never went back to dancing. In fact, from the workers end, that is our signal to start cleaning. Once people see it's clean up time, they usually start to leave.

I'm curious how much does somebody like kim sozzi cost? not necessarily her but im curious what someone would have to pay for someone like that
