Do you gals work full time? Do you go to school full time? Do you have student loans? I'm trying to figure out the best way to get my masters while still being able to make a life with FH and FSD.

Re: For girls getting their masters...
i quit my job in august to start a full-time MBA program - it's 2 years and i'm almost done with my first. i'm living off of loans and savings, and i have a paid internship lined up for the summer which will help.
FH is also in dental school for one more year, so he is in a similar financial situation. i figured since he was a poor student anyway, we could be poor students together. we're confident that the investment will pay off next year!

Re: For girls getting their masters...
I was going to Graduate school part-time and working full-time, but I just decided one day I really don't want to go to grad school anymore so now I just work full-time.
My FSIL, got her MBA through an online program; so she worked full-time and went to school full-time.

Re: For girls getting their masters...
I got my MBA last May and worked full time. I work in NYC, so I did the part-time program at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch college. One great thing about Baruch is that the tuition is manageable. Two classes a semester was about $2400. It took me 4 years to finish up and it cost me about $16,000, which I paid mostly with student loans. I mean you can pay $16,000 a semester at other schools alone!!
So definitely, do research schools that will allow you flexibility in schedule and won't break your bank account. What I would do was work full-time and then head to school by 6 pm. I would be out by 9 pm and get home by 10:30 pm. Other semesters I would go 4 days a week and go from 6 - 7:15 and be home 8:30-8:45. It took me so long to finish because I went to summer school only once. If I were crazy like some other students, I probably could have been done in 3 years or less, but I thought time away from school was a bit healthier for me.

It took me 2 years to get my masters. The first year I went full time to school and worked part time @ the town of hempstead and also as a per diem substitute. This year I work full time and Im taking 1 class each semester. I dont think I couldve worked full time and gone to school full time- its so much to do.

I work full time and I go to school full time. One good way to go about a masters without ending up in a load of debt is to work for a university (higher education administration is the field) or to get a job that will pay for your classes.
I think you should go on a part-time basis if you are worried about having time for FH, but only you will know what works best for you. Good luck.

I did my masters part time while i worked full time. It took me 2 1/2 years to complete. I didn't start paying the student loans til 6 months after graduation. It all worked out great for me too
