I am going to wrap them with clear celophane and put ribbon and candycanes, and bells on. with a card to reciever.

Hope that helps????

Hey Michi - I am doing this for presents this year to :) I'm making an assortment of Peppermint Patty Brownies, Double Dipped Chocolate Covered Pretzels, and RAINBOW COOKIES Yum, I'm starting the baking this weekend and I can't wait!! I'm not sure if I'm going to put them in baskets or just pretty tins - I'll have to go to Amazing Savings this weekend and see what I can find :) Once I have a sample basket/tin all set with the cookies and treats, I'll post pics!!

Bluegrl - Can you post the recipe of the Chocolate Covered Pretzels. TIA

I usually make platters of cookies as hostess gifts. Since we are having Christmas Day here, I only need to make 2 for the houses we visit on Christmas Eve. I think I am going to make 2 smaller platters for my new neighbors on either side of us. Plus I will have to make enough for ourUsually I get pretty holiday platters and then wrap them with colored celephone and tie together with ribbon. I will do them this weekend and next week as well.

I searched around for tins..got a lot for less then $2 at MAces, Amazing Savings and Target....And Target has very cute Kraft bags with santa and stuff on them for 25 cents.

I bought these red and green air tight containers at the $1 store too and put flavored coffee's and teas, and coccoa in them with a label.

Re: FOR THE GIRLS DOING COOKIE GIFTS

I'd love to share! I just kinda make these on my own - no recipe, but here's my method ;-D

I just get a big bag of the thin pretzels, (Rold Golds are my favorite) and the white and dark chocolate metling discs from Michaels. Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave in one container big enough to dip the pretzels in. I do half with the dark chocolate and half with the white, but the procedure is the same. Using the dark chocolate first, dip the pretzels being sure to completely submerge in the chocolate. (FYI, this is a messy task!) Place on wax/parchment paper to dry - can place in fridge to cool faster. When chocolate has completely set, dip the pretzels again in the dark chocolate to give it a second coat. (You can use some of the metled chocolate now to also cover up the spot where youwere holding the pretzel to dip) While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle with colored jimmies, colored sugar, or colored non-pareils(all available at Michaels, AC Moore, etc.) Or you can skip the sprinkles and drizzle melted chocolate over the pretzels for that pretty zig-zag effect. If you're going to do that, then wait until the second coat of chocolate has set before drizzling. Using the opposite chocolate color, place melted chocolate in a ziploc bag and snip a small hole in the corner. Make sure your chocolate is completely melted before doing this, otherwise it wont come out evenly and gets all lumpy. The hotter the chocolate, the easier it will be to drizzle over the pretzels. Just don't burn it! Drizzle over pretzels on wax/parchment paper - place in fridge to cool. When all of the chocolate is completely set, now you can place them in pretty cello bags, place in tins - however you want to present these yummy gifts! Just one more tip on storing these - I always keep these in the fridge until I'm ready to give them as gifts - it will prevent the chocolate from getting warm and smearing on your bags, etc..... I won't go into detail what THAT looks like, but it's not the nicest thing to see

These are really fun to make, and easy! You can get really creative with them and the finished product is so pretty, and YUMMY!! DH LOVES them and he always has to 'sample' a few, just to make sure they're okay for gift-giving, of course. Enjoy, and let me know how yours turn out! :)

Helena - i have to say THANK YOU for posting your choc. covered preztel 'recipie' . Its seem so yummy and so easy!

I am usually very big into baking for the holidays, I love baking cookies. But I was going to skip it altogether .. but after seeing your receipie, and it seems so easy, I might just have to try it (I just hope I don't wind up eating too much myself!)

Thanks Felicia! These are not only the yummiest treat ever - but I have so much fun making them too!! :) I think it really brings out the little kind in you too, bc you can really go nuts decorating these and making them all different - and so much easier than baking!! I'm doing some cookies and brownies too as part of my goodie gift basket this year, but I'm putting these pretzels as the majority of the sweets!! Another cool thing about these - they don't go stale like the baked goods. So you can make a whole bunch of them at once and not worry about them going bad before you can hand them out!

Yay - I'm so glad you all like my pretzel recipe!! I was almost worried that it was a lame gift, but your responses are really getting me all excited to give them as gifts this year!! Thanks everyone!
