For those having Sunday night weddings. Help me feel better???
Original post by jandm
Hi Ladies,
Our wedding is on a Sunday night, ending at midnight and recently I started thinking about how I'd feel on my wedding day if a lot of guests starting leaving early????
Any other Sunday night brides that can lift my spirts by sharing that ... it is what it is ... and although some will leave early ... a lot will stay till the end?? (At least that's what I keep telling myself!!!)

i always leave sunday night weddings early because of work the next day. people have to do what they have to do.
you won't even notice. people left my wedding early, and mine ended at 6pm! i didn't care at all because i was too busy dancing and having fun.
so yes, people WILL leave early, but you won't notice!

I had a Sunday twilight wedding that ended at 10pm and most of my guests kept going at the afterparty past 2am when DH and I left!! Only a few older people left around 9:30pm. Those same people would have left no matter what day my wedding was on.
Don't worry about a thing!!

I also had a Sunday night wedding that ended at 11:30pm. And I also FREAKED out about it before the wedding like 20 times. I would say maybe ten or fifteen people (out of 224 guests) left at about 11:00. I didn't notice ANYONE leave before then. And those who left were random people coming from far away (NJ) or my parent's work friends. People partied as hard as they would've on a Saturday and NO ONE, not one person who was super special to me left early except for my good friend who was pregnant, and even she lasted until 11:00! Best of luck, don't even worry. Your day will be wonderful no matter WHAT day of the week!

I went to a Sunday wedding last year and a few of my friends grumbled about it (keep in mind ages 24-27). I said to them, 'are you kidding me? We party at the Boardy Barn on Sundays!!!!'
Not one person left early and it was one of the best weddings I've ever been to!! And we all had to work the next day! Like all the other girls said - don't worry about people leaving early. The ones who matter won't leave.

If I were invited to a wedding that ended at midnight on a Saunday night, that would be a great reason for me to take the Monday off!!! I wouldn't leave early

I am having a Sunday night wedding as well. I wanted to do a Friday night but for whatever reason, my hall charged 15 dollars more per head for a Friday. At first I was really nervous about it, not only that people would leave early, but that they would stay and just not drink/party as much as they would on a Sat. But the last two weddings I went to were both on a Sunday and they were so much fun. Most of my friends already said they were going to take the next day off and stay in a hotel near the hall. Plus we are planning a year and a half in advance so it gives plenty of time to plan for it.
On the plus side, at least my guests wont have to sit in Friday rush hour traffic to Jersey (where my hall is)!!!

Both of my sisters had Sunday night weddings- and both were great! I don't remember it dampening on the party mood at all...I don't think anyone left early either. Don't stress!!! You will have FUN no matter what!

I had a Sunday night wedding. I had two couples leave early (before 11:30). One couple was in their 80's, the other showed up just in time for dinner and left right after (good riddance). I had a handful of people start to say good-bye at 11:30. The majority (more than 70%) stayed until midnight.

My reception was on a Saturday night from 6pm-midnight, some people left early (older relatives mainly or people who didn't book a hotel room for the night who lived far). Others had to be asked to leave by the maitre d after they started taking down the room.
People will leave early if they are going to leave early regardless of what day of the weekend it is. All that matters is that you have fun.
same with me - i had a saturday wedding and it ended at 11pm. some of dh's grumpy relatives left early. so it doesn't matter when you have it b/c if people are gonna leave early, they'll do it no matter when you have it.

i'm getting married on a sunday night, as have many of my friends. the people you care about stay until the end----the random people that you HAD to invite out of obligation might be the ones to leave early.

We had a Sunday wedding. CH was 5-6 reception was 6-10:30. Only 1 person left early for work. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You're going to have people who leave early no matter what day of the week or what time it ends. I wouldn't worry too much about it, we had a good amount of people stay until the bitter end and walk out with us!

I bet that people are going to take the next day off so they can have fun and stay until the end. And even if they don't, I bet they'll be having so much fun they won't leave! Make sure you have great music, and I doubt it will be a problem. Some people will leave early, but then some people will leave early on a Friday or Saturday night, they're just not night owls. Don't worry about them.
I'm having a Sunday afternoon wedding. Yeah, it might seem a bit odd at first to be dancing on a Sunday afternoon, but it's a wedding--people will get into the spirit and have a great time. I can't wait. (Yes I can, I have too much yet to do....)
Don't worry about it, really. It will be a fabulous event.
