How hard or easy was it? What steps did you take? Where do you live there. TIA.

Re: For those that moved to Florida or other states?
I moved to Northern VA about 7 years ago. I took a job down here (got it through the help of a friend), found an apartment, and that's it! It wasn't hard; I have a good friend that lives down here, and my sister and her family live here too, so it wasn't like I was all alone.

I moved a few months after graduating from college! I was a little more carefree back then. I moved down into an apt for e year, then moved into a different apt for a few years then moved into a house. As for a job, I just worried about that when I got here.

So would you say that is better to find a job there first and then everything else or vice versa?

For me it was better, gave me time to come down, move in and learn the area.
You moving down here to FL?

Not right away, but that's the plan. My mother is moving in september since they bought a house outside of Orlando.

I would be afraid to move without either of us having a job. We have looked in other areas, but first one of us would need a job that would pay enough to support us both until the other finds something.

That's exactly what worries me too. Trying to find a job for dh.

Two questions:
Where exactly is your mom moving?
What field is DH in, perhaps I can help?

She is moving around the kissimmee area, I'm not too sure if that's it.
Dh works for law firms in outsourcing companies but he would do anything pretty much as long as he is able to provide for us. He is going back to school also for computer science, that's why it can't be right away.

UCF has a really good computer program plus is DIRT cheap for residents..why not think about moving down wand waiting a year to go to school (until you establish residancy) and then returning to school. You can get a two bedroom apt here for about 750 bucks which is not bad at all.

Thanks Deb, definitely something to think about.

Hey Tania, that's my dream too.
FH just spent so much time and money getting NY teacher certification - I don't know how well it would go if we moved to FL!

I am such an advocate of Florida! I have FM'd back and forth with about 10 ladies on this board who are thinking of moving here. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to let me know!

Maybe in a few years Nic. I honestly think we will probably be moving hopefully in two years.

Thanks Deb, sure will. I love Florida and that's where I want my daughter to grow up.

How are the schools in FL? I heard mixed reviews from my cousins that live down there.

The few people that I know in Florida go to Catholic schools.
