i knew i didn't like that store! people tell me i'm crazy for not wanting to register there. but see, good old BBB is the way to go!

i know, my sister is like you HAVE to register there just b/c all three of them did but it's not even that convenient for anyone except LI people and we have a lot of people in the city in the bronx. so i figured bbb was a good bet. But i'm going to look at fortunoff's just in case.

I agree that it's only convenient to LI folks...most of my family and FH's family lives in Queens, a few live in Jersey and FH's parents live in the Bronx, and I don't want to register at Fortunoff because of the inconvenience. I do plan to register at Macy's and BBB.

i did 3 registries, one is BBB, crate and barrel and also fortunoff. Most of our friends and family live in queens but fortunoff is 10 mins from where i live in queens so infact depending what part of li someone lives in then fortunoff can be closer to a queens resident rather than LI. We do have some ppl who live in LI so this will be easier for them. They have 3 choices so it will be fine.

We are using fortunoff though for alot of furniture so this way after our wedding date we can purchase it ourselves for 10% off

That stinks, i was going to register there. I hate hearing when places have bad return policies.

Does anyone know how bloomingdales is?

bloomingdales is great with everything, IMO. I never have a problem returning stuff there.

They seem to have the same stuff thats why i asked. I might regsiter there instead of fortunoff...

kinda, fortunoff has a wider price range. Bloomingdales if you even go now to their site just to check, they have a majority of larger priced items. You can find a few things that are less but a majority is alot

I've heard quite the few horror stories in fact.....we were going to register there anyway and went a few weeks ago and I was like, 'This isn't even worth it' since I am so nervous based on what I heard..so we left and ate LOL

Sorry to hear you had problems with them. Honestly it is the first issue I have ever heard of them having issues.

I know in Westbury they marked items that weren't recommended for registries because they are seasonal or going to be discontinued.

We got some doubles for our eparty because it was never removed from the registry!!!

I think this happens if people buy things off the internet...

Wonderful...registered there and I think my invites for my shower are already in the mail...I guess we'll see what happens. I would write to their corporate headquarters and see what happens. Can't hurt. Totally not about Fortunoff, but I went to Circuit City today to pick up a camera I ordered for FSIL first thing in the morning. I ordered a Sony Black one at 9am online and went to pick it up at the Green Acres store (never again) at 1. I was in there for over an hour because they didn't have the camera I had JUST ordered earlier online. I specifically picked the pick up in store at valley stream. They tried to say I'm sorry...and I said...No, I'm sorry - give me the higher sony camera for the same price (they had the better one for 50 bucks more). After arguing for over an hour - the lady finally did it. I got a $250 camera for $179 plus tax...but I am writing them a letter saying I will never order another thing from them online.

I have to say... i returned something there that was not on my registry and i was given a credit with no questions asked. Also... when i registered.. i signed up for the credit card and I just received a $200 gift card to use in the store on anything... i bought most of our xmas ornaments there w/ that money. So I guess I was lucky not to have any problems.

I heard on the news this morning, that Fortunoff may file for Bankruptcy. Is anyone still going to register with them? I'm just wondering how this is going to effect wedding registries. Lord & Taylor might buy them out. Below is an article from the NY Times today.

I am sorry to hear this happened! I noticed that Fortunoff puts return labels on all merchandise purchased, did your item have it? I had a problem with my bedroom set being discontinued and I was upset because all the associates were telling me different stories about finding the items they didn't have. I would speak to a bridal registry manager or call there customer service to see what they can do you for you.
Hope it goes well!

I am SOO surprised. I worked there for a while and I used to do returns. If it was on your registry..i'd always take it back. Next time, ask for a manager as soon as they start with you. They will be in BIG trouble and you'll get what you want!!

Oh no get out of here! I registered there too but I always heard such good things about them. Hopefully Westbury will be better at returning!
