The space is nice, just be aware of their food - I was there for a wedding a few months ago and dinner was inedible. I had the veg. option and I was presented with raw veggies covered in char; my FH had the beef and was given 3 pathetic slices less than 1/4 inch thick, and was ignored when he asked for seconds. Others at the table agreed that the food really wasn't very good, regardless of what entree was ordered. It seems that the food has deteriorated, as my FSIL & FMIL were there for a wedding 2 years ago and were raving about the food. Wish I had more positive things to say.

If you are booked at Chateau Briand, I would bring this concern to them... they are owned by the same company, and may have similar food

they actually have a good rep when it comes to food so this is the first time i'm hearing anything bad.. i'm not worried, i am booked there and trust everything will be great
I'll make sure to set up a tasting before we book-i guess every ones opinon will be different. This was the first thread I've seen saying the food was bad so maybe it's not the norm.
Definitely set up a tasting, no matter what hall you go to. I'm booked at the Fox Hollow and I've heard nothing but great things about their food!!

We did bring it up as a concern at our first meeting, and we were able to have a tasting before we booked. Thanks for the thought :)

This all surprises me too!! I went to a wedding there, and everything was top notch. The food was great. I have also only heard rave reviews. We are thinking of booking them too and reading this made me a little nervous!! I just know that he told me that they don't really offer tastings, but like another poster said, you can go there for dinner and he will comp apps but you have to buy entrees. So i don't know if that helps at all!
What date were you thinking of booking?

Re: Fox Hollow Caterers
I was a Fox Hollow bride and I was happy with the food. The main reason I booked them is b.c I had been to 2 weddings there and both times the booze and food was great.
We have to remember that these are catering halls, the food will never be perfect for everyone, I have been to many weddings and parties at many venues in LI and the city. I can tell you that I have negative things to say about many places, whereas many other people rave about them.
I didnt bother asking for a tasting, my wedding was 14 months away..... how can you possibly tell if the same person will be cooking your food?
catering halls will always have an off night. Hopefully it wont fall on our weddings, but even then ...someone will always have something to say steak was overcooked, veggies undercooked, booze was light...etc.
Be aware that you should keep in mind the negative reviews and make the hall know your concerns, but dont stress it. focus on the positive reviews , which in this case it seems to be the majority
Fox Hollow brides, you have nothing to worry about.

Re: Fox Hollow Caterers
Thanks for all ur opinions girls! I am still going to chk them out, my ultimate decision is going to be based on who will give me the best price at the nicest place. I really love the Fox hollow but FH thinks it is going to be too far for our guests, the Church is in Medford, we live in East Patchogue and our guest live for Manorville out to Oysterbay. I feel kinda bad making them do all that driving....but it still is def an option! I love the way it looks and it is what we were looking for. But I have a meeting with the Watermill tomorrow 1st, so we shall see......THE HUNT CONTINUES!!!! LOL!!!!

Don't worry too much about how far it is for your guests... I know it might be inconvenient for them, but Fox Hollow has the Inn right there, and people will find a way to make it to your wedding. I grew up on LI way out east and I have been to so many weddings in Nassau County., and I never once thought of it as too far!
Good luck at the Watermill can you give an update, we want to look there as well!

I def will! U know what the weird thing is about the Watermill? I have never ever been there, but I had a dream that I had my wedding there! When I was on their website I was like 'NO WAY! I had a dream about having my wedding at this place!!!' AND the scary part was it looks EXACTLY the same as in my dream!!!!!

Re: Fox Hollow Caterers
I went there today & met with one of their BM-i think his Name was Frank. He was really nice; gave a ton of information. Not quite sure if this is the place for us though; they want a litte more than what i'm comfortable paying even for a sat afternoon in November. But he did try to throw in a lot of extra's for us and invited us to come and have drinks & appetizers in their restaurant.
There was an event going on in the WGP so unfortunately i didn't get to see the room and since my guest list is on the smaller side we didn't even go to see the larger room.

I am having my wedding at Fox Hollow and I have never heard a bad thing about the food in fact that is one of the things people always rave about! It was just voted #3 for best places to have a wedding on Long Island so it can't be that bad!!!!

Re: Fox Hollow Caterers
I recently had my wedding there. The food and service were outstanding. I've also been to events there as a guest and have never been disappointed. We must have looked at 15 different RH's. Fox Hollow has great prices and give you the most for your money. I would highly recommend them.
