So I decided to wax my upper lip myself two days ago. I used these pre-waxed strips called Nads and it worked out great on one side. But I had a few stubborn hairs on the other and used it more than twice. My face started burning, and when I re-read the instructions it said not to do it more than twice! Yesterday it remained red but I thought it would go away, now today that side of my face looks shriveled and feels hard! It looks terrible like I burned myself with an iron or something! I'm scared it's going to leave a mark on my face and I'm five months away from my wedding
Has this ever happened to anyone before? Did you use anything to help it go away?

Re: Freaking out
My suggestion is to keep it moisturized as much as possible to encourage your skin to regrow. It could scar, but most likely it won't. Avoid sun exposure.
I got a burn from that stuff once on my leg and it took about a week for the swelling and redness to go down. The face / upper lip is super sensitive, but the skin on it regenerates really quickly.
If you're really worried about it, I suggest seeing a dermatologist.
As far as alternatives... I usually do threading there, but actually got a little bit of a burn from that the last time, so it's back to the bleaching for me if/when it grows back in (usually the threading lasts like 3-5 months).

used to wax my own upper lip years ago..I've had this happen. Just rub Baby Oil and Aloe Vera on the spot often.
It should be gone w/in a week. The skin is just very irritated and needs moisture to heal.

When in doubt I almost always apply neosporin - but if it is truly freaking you out - it is most definatley worth it to make an appointment with your dermatologist and seek proffessional treatment or advice so as to take preventative measures.

Thanks girls! I just put some baby oil on it right now, I'll try neosporin and aloe vera too. I hope it goes away! Unfortunately I don't have insurance nor can I afford to see a dermetalogist at the moment. So all I can do is rely on home remedies

I think you'll be fine. I once waxed my eyebrows and one got really red then also seemed like it would scar. I used vitamin e oil straight from the capsules. Worked like a charm.

Ohh yeah vitamin E is supposed to be good on the skin! I'll definitely try that!

Re: Freaking out
Get AQUAPOR and apply it as much as you can. It's a life saver and you should be clear in less than a month!
OR
You have go to a La Mer counter and ask them for a sample of their moisturizing cream which works wonders as well but the sales people at the counter are extremely stingy with their samples.
Good Luck!

I agree...I use actual Aloe plant extract. I bought a leaf and cut pieces as I needed. It works wonders. Keep the leaf refrigerated after use.
