Although I dont want to... I'm contemplating a Friday evening reception bc the RH I like the most has fri nights at a cost per plate thats most reasonable to me compared to their Sat evening prices...can anyone who has been to or has had a Fri night reception themselves, tell me if there are any negatives involved with that? For example, alot of people just showing up to the RH and not the ceremony? a good amount of 'no' replies on the invitations? people leaving early bc they have work the following morning? I'm really thinking long and hard on whether I should compromise with myself for this...can anyone help?
Also the place that fits me the most is Sand Castle, but their minimum for a Sat evening is 200, they dont really seem to budge on much, but anyone think or know if a RH like SC would reduce their guaranteed minimum to 175 on a Sat evening??? Some say I'm asking for TOO much but hey a girl can wish!

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...
I'm having a Friday night wedding on Veterans day so many people are off of work that day!! I'm not really concerned bc I feel like the people who want to be there will be there. You can't worry about that bc its def more reasonable on friday. That is why we had a friday otherwise i would love to have a sat night wedding. I'm fine with it though..

I'm having a friday night reception, and I haven't had a complaint yet about it being on a friday night. Practically all of our guests are 9-5'ers, so they have off the next day.

The people who matter the most and who love you will make it a point to be at the Ceremony.
I'm having a Friday night wedding too and everyone has been really happy about it - they love that they have an extra day over the weekend to recover from everything!

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...
Im having a friday night wedding and would like to point out a positive that many people dont think of
one of the great things about a friday night wedding is that you are the only wedding there that day, you can start the wedding and end the wedding anytime you want, you can get to the RH anytime you want bc there is no worry of another party there!
and I have to agree with the other girls and this goes with any wedding date, but the people who are close to you and love you will make it there anytime or day!
i personally think its ridiculous to pay more money for the exact same product, simply because it is on a saturday, I absolutely refused to do it!
think about how much money you will be saving and more money you will have for other things like flowers, music, etc.

This ^^^ My MOH told me she is going to make it a 4 day weekend! Plus who ever really wants to see the ceremony will go. I don't mind if all of my guests don't go!

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...
We are! We're planning the ceremony at 3pm.
I went to a Friday night wedding before ...ceremony started at 4; but the reception wasn't until 8pm! I took 1/2 day from work went to the ceremony all dressed up while 1/2 the people were wearing jeans!! After the ceremony i went home& watched tv for 2 hours cause the CH wasn't until8!!! Looking back I would have worked a fullday@ work and just gone to the reception but at least I was part of the few that actually got to see their vows!
The reception itself was AMAZING we partied hard! It was nice not having to get up for work the next day! We met the couple and other friends for lunch that Saturday and still had Sunday before we had to go back to work! Go for it! All Your guest might not make the ceremony but hey your not paying all that money for the ceremony and you'll barely notice who is there so think of all the $$ you'll save on the reception having it on a Friday!!!

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...
I'm not a friday night, but I am an early sunday morning. staying in our budget was the most important to us. we can't pay for a place that we just can not possibly afford. to us, all that matters is starting our marriage with the people we love. the small details, to us are not important.

This!
And I personally prefer Friday night weddings. You still have two days then to do whatever!

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...
i'm having a friday night wedding - it's like the new saturday (ok i say that to myself).
FH and I understand if ppl can't make it to the ceremony and that was a chance we were willing to take. We just hope that the people that really do care about us, will be there at the ceremony. Although, I do have a lot of ppl telling me that they're taking work off for that Friday already to come to the ceremony.
Also, what I like about Fridays is that you still have 2 days of your weekend left afterwards. Try to find the positive and not the negative in it! Good luck!

I'm a sat night girl but my Brother had his wedding on Friday. Only problem he had was being LATE to his reception because of traffic to the Hamptons.

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...
I am having a fri night wedding. Alot of my closest friends and fam are taking the day off. My ceremony does not start until 630 so many people are still working a full day.
I wanted a fri (over a sun) because i am looking to enjoy the whole weekend with everyone. We are planning on a brunch and a lunch sat for out of town guests so i can really enjoy the time with them.

ITA with this. This was my exact reasoning for choosing Friday over Sunday, because there was no way I could afford Saturday with all the extras I wanted to add.
