FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...

I'm having a Friday wedding, and I do actually feel bad for people who have to work all day then go home gussy up and make it to the RH, but I agree the people who matter most will do it gladly because it's your day not theirs.

Then when I think about the price difference, I don't really feel bad for anyone anymore, haha!!

Keep in mind other vendors- not just your RH will either be cheaper or more willing to negotiate for the friday night as well.

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...

I went to a fri night in october. Well the reception was at night but I believe the ceremony at the church was at 3. FH and I took the day off as did many people. There were plenty of people there so I don't htink that was a problem.

Honestly, I won't take the day off for just anybody's wedding but if it was a close friend/family, I don't think it's a big deal at all

Yes! That was def another concern of mine!! Fri night traffic from rush hour, people trying to get home or whereever on a hopefully beautiful Fri Summer afternoon/evening!

Im having a friday night wedding and would like to point out a positive that many people dont think of

one of the great things about a friday night wedding is that you are the only wedding there that day, you can start the wedding and end the wedding anytime you want, you can get to the RH anytime you want bc there is no worry of another party there!

and I have to agree with the other girls and this goes with any wedding date, but the people who are close to you and love you will make it there anytime or day!

i personally think its ridiculous to pay more money for the exact same product, simply because it is on a saturday, I absolutely refused to do it!

think about how much money you will be saving and more money you will have for other things like flowers, music, etc.

THIS plusssssssss I have been a guest at many friday night weddings and it's awesome bc your guests have two days to nurse their hangovers before going back to work lol it feels like an extra day in the weekend!

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...

The only reason that we are having a Saturday wedding is that we want a packed church...and we are both teachers and most of our friends (and actually most of our family) are teachers too and wouldn't be able to take the day off.

But if we were having a summer wedding, I probably would have have picked a Friday.

Also keep in mind i know most of my friends who work in NYC either have every friday or every other friday as summer fridays- so they wont even have to use a day off if you have it in the summer.

I want a packed church too...I want alot or a good amount of ppl besides close friends and family to see me walk down the aisle and exchange my vows...I guess I'm just struggling with what 'little' things that I can forgo to have it in the place I want...

Yeaaaa the rush hour part is a killer - I'm actually a little worried about that. Ceremony is 3pm, RH is 45 mins away with no traffic, and I want to stop by the place we met and take pics but I don't know if there will be time...

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...

We are having ours on friday of memorial day weekend. I'm concerned about traffic, but I think most people will realize to get out of work early, and my close family will probably take the whole day off. Those that are far away will come up the night before. Who wouldn't want a 4 day weekend? Our ceremony is at the RH and starts at 630, but the invite says 6. No need to worry about early people, there is a room and they provide beverage service before the ceremony.
I've only been to one Friday night wedding, and the ceremony was at a church in the afternoon. I had the whole day off, because I don't get home until 8pm so I wouldn't be able to go at all if I didn't have off. But the only people that seemed to be there was the bride and groom's family. Not really many friends or co workers.
I did debate this a lot. Traffic is really my only concern at this point. I'm hoping a lot of people get rooms and come early to check in! People will make arrangements with their jobs so they can get there on time. Who would rather work than go to a wedding?

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...

Honestly I am in a similar boat to you...because I really wanted a Saturday reception (though almost all of the weddings I've ever been to have been on a Friday) it meant that we couldn't have the wedding wherever we wanted to have it. (There were other halls we could have afforded on a Friday but not on a Saturday) But we were able to find a hall that we could have the date we wanted and the number of people we wanted and still have all the amenities we were looking for.

My other reason we wanted a Saturday wedding was that we wanted to have an early church time because the time of year that we are having our wedding, it would be dark by 5pm. You won't have that problem in June.

The previous poster is right though...a lot of people have off or half days in the summer, and you might be surprised by how many people will be able to make it.

Just remember that there is always a way to get the wedding that you want....it just takes some research and some work...and we're here to help!

The people who matter the most and who love you will make it a point to be at the Ceremony.

I'm having a Friday night wedding too and everyone has been really happy about it - they love that they have an extra day over the weekend to recover from everything!

This!

And I personally prefer Friday night weddings. You still have two days then to do whatever!

THIS!! I love Fri Night weddings because I feel like I'm not taking over the guests entire weekend... they can be all hungover saturday and still have sunday to relax before they start their work week

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...

Also I think we're in the same situation...FH and I havent decided whether we're having the ceremony in a church close to our homes or if we're having it at the RH, but if we do the church route, the RH would be about 30-45 mins with no traffic depending on how fast you drive! Another option is having the ceremony in a church close to the RH...so many options and what ifs!

Also, I wanted to have the entire weekend to spend with my family and out of town guests since I don't get to see everyone often since I live in LA. I figured I would be too stressed on Friday and running around like a crazy lady with a Saturday wedding. It's been easy to plan a wedding from the West Coast up until this point...I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about that come June/July!

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...

I'm having a friday night wedding and I'm not really concerned. Most people work until 5 or 6 and the CH doesn't start until 7. Plus it's Columbus day weekend so people that have a long weekend might be getting out early. Plus Friday night weddings give people the whole weekend to do what they like with

I have been to many Friday ceremonies. Giving myself a three day weekend was NEVER a problem for me. Also, I honestly feel like anyone who is special to us will make it a point to get their butts to the ceremony.

Re: FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTIONS...

best wedding i went to was a Friday night one.

i mean the only down side if you want to marry in the church is that people would have to take off of work to see the vows ( but people LOVE an excuse to leave work early)

but if you are getting married at the venue it wont matter anyhow.

I'm not doing a Friday just cause i got a great price for Saturday, but im having a small wedding

i wouldn't stress it at all, better rate and 98% of people are off on Saturday so they can party with you no problem
