I was wondering if I could get some feedback on which day you guys think is better if we end up not being able to afford a Sat. Night. My Finance thinks Fri. and I was leaning to Sunday. Thanks!

I'm having a Sunday night wedding. I'm Jewish, and you can't have a wedding from Sundown friday until soundown Saturday. In July, sundown on sat would be too late for a saturday night wedding. So Sunday it had to be! Ideally, I would have loved to have had a 4:00 wedding, kinda happy hour time, people would be able to drink and it would end early enough for people to work the next day. But, I had a choice between noon or 6, and I am not getting up early on my wedding day!!! So its a night time weeding, and I'm happy! Do what works for you. Espo was right, there is absolutely no way to make everyone happy!
I'm also Jewish and sundown is even later in August! Even if we could have done Friday night I still would have gone with Sunday because FH, all of his family, half of our bridal party and a lot of our friends are OOT. They would have to take off A LOT of work to come to a Fri night wedding, especially if we expected them to come to our rehearsal dinner. We also didn't want people flying in the morning of our wedding in case there were delays.
A Sunday wedding gives people time to fly out Fri night or even Saturday morning, and since we're doing an afternoon wedding + afterparty those who absolutely need to fly out Sun night still have time to do so. A lot of FH's family members are taking off anyway to spend 4-5 days in NY before the wedding and then are flying back the Monday after, but we wanted to enable our OOT guests (particularly our friends) to come without having to miss any work.
Also, many of our friends will be off the next day since I'm a law student (my fellow law school and grad school friends will still be off for the summer) and many of my other friends are teachers (who will also still be off for the summer as well).
Our older relatives will have plenty of time to drive home Sunday night and those who want to stay can come to our after party or do whatever they want! I also wanted everyone to come to our ceremony and would have been really upset if people skipped it (by choice or by necessity) so Fri probably wouldn't have been the right choice for me.
In the end it's what you and your FH want -- you can try to make your guests happy but in the end the people who care about you will find a way to be there and someone will always be unhappy.
Good luck deciding

Re: Friday Night Vs. Sat.Night
We are getting married on a Friday night. Personally with our crowd of friends and family...a Sunday wouldn't work!!! We were also fortunate, our RH said that they charged the same if you got married on a Saturday night in July or a Wednesday in December so we weren't worried about the difference in cost.
I think it depends on your guests if you get married on a Friday night or Sunday.

You know what, you will never make EVERYBODY attending your wedding happy, its impossible...whether you do friday, saturday or sunday, night or day. Its YOUR day, pick what you like best. Everyone is different and will have different reasons for what they prefer. I can guarantee you that no matter what day you do it, you will have an amazing wedding and it will be the happiest day of your life. Those that you are closest to will be there no matter what and it won't be a burden.
i dont want to make people feel bad about the day they picked...ive gone to lots of sunday weddings and guess what, yes i was tired the next day but you know what i went, danced, ate and had a great time, its one day so i dealt with it. Its not a problem...ive done friday and again it was fun and had a great time.
girls no matter what day, your wedding will be fabulous
I totally agree. My wedding is a Friday night and some people are complaining and some people are loving it. It's a no win situation but it's also my day and that's what worked for me and FH.

I would prefer Friday night to Sunday night....no work the next day!
Ditto!
I had gone to a wedding years ago on a Friday night and loved that I had the rest of the weekend to relax. Needless to say Friday's are cheaper as well. Also, growing up Friday night was always the most fun!
We were married on a Friday night and I would not have changed a thing!

I'm doing a Friday night - never been to a Sunday wedding but for me it comes down to my relationship with the couple - and I know the people who mean the most to me will make whatever arrangements they need to - and those who don't, oh well. it's what worked for FH and i and our budget, we leave for the HM on monday so we have 2 days in between to get ready and spend with our OOT guests.

were having a friday night wedding. it was so much cheaper then a saturday night wedding (our original choice), plus all of our guests will have the weekend off to rest and not have to worry about work the next day. so id pick a friday over a sunday wedding hands down.. unless you can get a sunday night wedding when monday is a holiday.

To me, nothing really compares to a Saturday night ....
The *only* way that I personally would consider getting married on a Sunday is if its a Holiday Weekend ... but then, in that situation, the price might not be that much lower than a Saturday night.
So, if I couldn't have a Saturday night, I would probably pick Friday night ...

Sunday Day but not Sunday Night. It ***** as a guest to have to go to work the next day.
