I was pretty dead set on a Saturday night but seeing how much cheaper some Friday or Sunday nights can be I don't know anymore.
I'm afraid of Friday being all traffic and people showing up late, or being mad they have to rush after work to my wedding. I don't want to have an empty cocktail hour especially paying all this money for food and no one shows up on time.
Sunday I'm afraid people would leave super early because everyone works on Monday. I don't want no one there at the end especially for the cake cutting, etc whatever goes on at the end lol. but I think I rather a Sunday then a Friday if anything.
I don't know what to do. I just started thinking saving more money on the rh would mean more money on other things but I don't even know if it's worth it.
afternoon wedding isn't an option. I want to sleep on my wedding day not be up at like 6 am lol.

Re: Friday or Sunday?
we're having a Friday wedding...just don't make it too early. Our CH starts at 7. Personally, I would use a wedding as an excuse to leave work early lol.
I feel like Sunday weddings are typically earlier in the day, and I prefer late night events.

i vote Sunday night ... but possibly on a weekend when people don't need to work on Monday (like labor day or whatnot) ... that way, you get the best of both worlds
i would def still go to a Friday wedding ... but i would not take time off from work for it unless i was REALLY close with the person. So i'd probably just end up coming to the reception (and maybe a little of CH, depending on what time it was)

FH and i are getting married on a Sunday evening. The ceremony is at 5 and the CH starts at 530. party ends at 1030. Its not to late and the people who really mean something to you and FH will not leave early because of work the next day. They will stay for all the important things and most will stay the whole time. dont worry about it, everybody coming loves you and FH and will want to share the entire day with you!

that sounds like a good idea. I guess once I narrow down the halls I'll work more on the dates. we really want Oct 13th because we're huge horror movie fans and well one year it'd be a Friday the 13th

Personally I prefer a Friday. I feel like on a Sunday everyone is a little bit more subdued since we all have work the next day. I feel like a Friday wedding is the perfect kick off to the weekend! Our CH didn't start unhtil 8:30 on a Friday night so a lot of people didn't even have to miss work or leave early. We had a GREAT turn out for the ceremony and for CH. I was actually a little surprised!

almost same for me, our ceremony is at 4:30 and the event ends at 1030. I don't think that's too late and my bridal party are out of towners so they will be down for an after party! Sunday just ended up working bettr for us since my parents work every other day and so do all their friends. FH and I also didn't want to chance people from jersey missing the ceremony since the traffic can be horrendous

Re: Friday or Sunday?
we choose a sunday wedding because we wanted to avoid having people rush home and run to the wedding if they weren't able to leave work early and all that jazz. our wedding is at 2pm on a sunday and the reception doesn't start until 7pm. although we are having a 2 hour CH that starts at 5pm.

Re: Friday or Sunday?
I think some RH offer twilight weddings on Sundays.... you could totally do an early afternoonish on a Sunday?
Fridays... hmm what about on a holiday? or during like school breaks? then a lot of people are off and there is less traffic....
Im sure no matter what, your family and friends wouldn't miss is for the world!
Send out save the dates well in advance too!
And like someone else on here said, it's an excuse for people to leave work early on a friday heehee

Re: Friday or Sunday?
We are having a Friday wedding, and personally if I had to chose to attend either a Friday or Sunday wedding, I would definetly pick Friday. We are having a 6:30 ceremony and cocktail hr. starts at 7. I dont think that is asking for people to rush too much after work or anything. I would say if you are going to do Friday, just dont do it too early.

Re: Friday or Sunday?
I had a Sunday twilight wedding and it was perfect.
One reason: we had the whole weekend to have other celebratory events that we could afford NOT having a Saturday wedding! We did an open bar on Friday eve, bridesmaid luncheon and golf for guys on Saturday, Saturday night rehearsal dinner and then Sunday wedding. I loved being busy and our friends and family were so happy that had a whole weekend of planned events.
People drank and danced as they would at any Saturday night wedding. Nobody left our wedding early except for some elderly couples who thought the music was too loud! At the end of our wedding, people were chanting 'one more song!' to the band, nobody was running out of there. People either went to work on Monday late or struggled the next day

We did the same thing. But everyone had the next day off because 7/5 was a holiday this year. A sunday wedding was better for us because it gave our OOTs time to get there. Good luck!

Re: Friday or Sunday?
I was planning on doing a Friday night also because I wanted the wedding to be a big party and everyone to have fun. I was worried with a Sunday wedding our friends wouldn't get in the mood. I also was going to do this because of the price difference.
If you are set on a Saturday though and that is what you truly want it can be done. I didn't think I would be able to afford it but I found somewhere that was actually less than the other halls I found for Friday. You should check out some of the Lessings places... Smithtown Country Club and Sayville Country club are both very affordable!

This is what we're doing. We're still doing a day wedding but still we chose that weekend bc mostly everyone has off the Monday for Memorial Day
