My ceremony is at 3pm which i know most of my guests wont be at and that doesnt bother me but is 6pm too early to start on a friday night at the RH? They gave me the option for 8 o clock cocktail hour but then with the extra viennese hour it would have ended at 2am!
From what im reading 8 is normal for fridays and im booked already!
Please tell me not to worry!

no worries, I think 6pm is fine. most people I know get out of work at 4- 4:30 and could take an extra hour or two off.... it will all work out

i dont think its a bad thing - put it this way - im pretty sure the people close to you will take off the whole day anyway or will leave work early....
we are also getting married on a friday but we did try to make it a little more conveinent for our guests by starting a little later and extending the CH - our ceremony is at the RH and starts at 6pm - our CH starts at 6:30 but we extended it until 8pm - i always feel like the CH goes fast at a wedding so i dont think our guests will really notice the difference but it does allow more time for the guests coming from work to make it there time for part of the CH. our reception is 8 -1 and we are doing a 45 minute Vienesse Hour - so basically we are extending the CH by 30 mins and shortening the VH by 15 minutes (because it will be on the dancefloor) - so all in all it ends up only adding 15 minutes....hope i didnt lose you!

I am getting married the Friday evening before Memorial Day weekend and my cocktail hour starts at 8 pm. I wanted my wedding to go late but now I am debating whether that's too late.
I think 7 pm is probably better for the average Friday night.
i'm feeling the same way lately...my CH starts at 8 as well...begining to think it's too late also

You will be okay. Besides, the most important people to you will be there for sure, as someone mentioned above.
Most people will try to leave work early- in fact, i'm going to a wedding in 2 weeks, and I am leaving a work an hour early just to ensure I have enough time to change/be ready/make the CH..

I am sure people will be willing to leave work early, esp on a Friday! unless they are stuck...my sister just went to a wedding in Philly and she left work early to go...

My Ceremony is at 6 and CH is at 6:30. I didn't want to start at 8 because i think it's a little late(IMO) I don't think 6 is an unreasonable hour!

it should be fine. Mine started at 8, but I think most people get home from work at 5:30, 6:00, so they will probably jsut leave work a little early or show up a little into the cocktail hour.
