I would consult with your cousin and his mother and and maybe have your mom talk to them to? I would explain that it's not right of them to make the family choose which wedding they want to go to. Because some family members may want to do half and half but then you're both paying for plates when people aren't staying the whole time. That TOTALLY sucks and I'm a hard person to ask because I would be outraged. :( sorry

Frist wedding breakdown: same wedding date!
Hi girls.. So, there has been a lot of back and forth -- arguing -- between families. The groom and his fiance de-activated their FB (RIDICULOUS) so now I can't even try and contact his fiance to talk about the situation. Basically, the grooms mother has been calling me and saying how sorry she is and how she had 'no idea' my wedding was the same day (again - ridiculous) and also -- how she can't call the brides parents because she NEVER MET THEM and has NO RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM -- HOLY **** -- THEY HAVE BEEN DATING FOR MANY YEARS AND SHE HAS NEVER MET THEM? WHAT AM I A FOOL? She said they are 'waiting for the wedding venue to call them back to confirm dates' SO i ended the conversation this time with her as 'just call me back when the date is changed' HA!
thats the shortened version of what is going on at this time lol.

we have been discussing things with our parents - but the thing is this: they aren't inviting ALL the family..they made that very clear -- so what I am thinking is that they -- new my wedding was the same day and are happy that they don;t have to invite everyone only those who matter to them (his aunts, cousins etc) and the rest of the mom's cousins will come to my wedding. SO STUPID - hello! his family is still my immediate family - and also its very disrespectful and rude to my parents to do this to us!

Wow I can't believe they did that! It's for sure a sticky situation. I think nicely asking them to change the date is ok, but be careful not to push any buttons in an already tense situation. It would be a shame for something as silly as picking a new day to cause a rift in the family. Maybe go straight to his mom (or have your mom talk to his) I know going to the moms may seem a little childish, but sometimes it takes the wisdom and intervention of the older generation to sort this out. lol Best of luck either way, and keep us posted!
wow unbelievable...

I'm so sorry!! That's terrible. I really hope he changes his date - if he just booked it, it's not like he has booked anything else that would make it too difficult. What an awful situation :'( I hope everything works out for you!!!

I am so happy the date has been changed. It $ucks it's the day before but honestly who cares. You're wedding will be 100x better then theirs and your wedding will come after theirs and leave the lasting impression

I would rsvp no if they invite you.
THIS 1000000000% even if they make it after your wedding.
You also said you don't think you'll be invited.. then are these family members really that close to you anyway? I mean if your moms sisters and brothers (your aunt and uncles) are coming then maybe at least you could look at it like people you aren't that close with won't come and you'll be saving some $$ !
