From the 06'ers to the 07'ers

Original post by R&J0806

I remember last year around this time the 05'ers dropped a line to all of us 06'ers with advice, tips and love....I found it very touching and very helpful so....I thought I'd start something similiar for you 07 girls.

You're approaching the best year of your life thus far, so hang on to every second of it. It will fly by before you know it. I can't believe my counter says I've been married 135 days...it feels like just yesterday it was a count DOWN. (sigh.) My advice to you:

Take it all in -- I remember gasping when I saw my chuppah being set up. It was as beautiful as I could've wished for.

Stay with your hubby as much as you can -- people will pull you apart left and right. And despite my own attempts, I was still separated more than I would've liked.

Don't sweat the small stuff -- chances are, something will go wrong. But, I assure you, it will be so minor that nobody will notice.

I can't stress enough how much of a blur the day will be. I remember reading others post that and I thought 'yeah, right.'

Get a video! You won't regret it....it's worth every penny.

Here's to a great year for all of you...us 06 girls are here if you need us!

my advice, Don't sweat the small stuff. When all is said and done, the wedding is just one day in your new life. Focus more on the marriage and less on the wedding

Enjoy every minute. I swear it felt like as soon as we were introduced, it was almost last dance time. It FLIES by.

Re: From the 06'ers to the 07'ers

Your days will be here before you know it!

It was the most magical day ever, I can't describe it. It was better than I ever imagined. I sat there at points and just looked around the room.

I thought I'd be sad when it was over but, I have these awesome memories of a fabulous day! It feels so amazing too when everyone tells you how much fun they had, which to me, is the most important thing!

Definitely don't sweat the small stuff! Things are bound not to go 100% to plan. Most people aren't going to notice.

Yes, I agree on 'dont' sweat the small stuff,' especially if it's something that 'can't' be fixed by that point.

But on the flip side, if you see something happening that you're not satisfied with, and something CAN be done about it:

SPEAK UP LOUD AND CLEAR IMMEDIATELY.

Sometimes people don't know what you want until you tell them a million and one times, even though you think it's crystal clear.

I got a substantial discount from a vendor because I spoke up in the moment, rather than waiting til afterward to complain.

I know the marriage is the important part BUT we are paying a lot of bucks for these services and those vendors don't deserve to skate on what they promised us.

Other than that, one of the best things I did was to take my time before I started walking down the aisle (I actually told Dad not to start walking yet when he thought we should start) so that I could look around at everyone who came to church and take it all in. I made eye contact and smiled at as many people as possible on my walk, even mouthing 'Hi Mo! Hi Aunt Ro!' etc. with tears in my eyes and it was the most glorious feeling to do that and then end with meeting up with DH on altar.

I was SO overwhelmed with love and joy on that walk down the aisle. I'll treasure that feeling always.

I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it.

Re: From the 06'ers to the 07'ers

This is a great post!

My advice:

1. EAT EAT EAT the week before your wedding... you don't realize it but it's so easy to lose weight that week. My dress was a little big on me the day of, esp after being in it for 10 hours! I wish it was more snug.

2. Get a video... we are obsessed... still.

3. Take a minute with your new hubby to just look around at your reception and take it all in. We did that twice during our reception and it was amazing to see all our guests laughing and having a great time at OUR wedding.

I know I have a lot more, but I can't think.

Congrats to everyone!!!

Thank you so much for the advice and good wishes. I am sure I can speak for all of us when I say thank you and we really appreciate it!

I'm with Kel. Seriously, I worry too much about the most minute things. I'll heed all your advice, and keep it in mind.
