Yes its ridic but we had to give the $ before hand too.
And yes I was under my min. and the vendors were full price.

Its really not fair...I wish I read up more about this before I booked with them...I have such a bad taste in my mouth from them...It's sickening...they are theives!! Literally. DOn't they know that times are hard..>Geeez.

I didnt know either until I found out from a previous bride. its ridic the amount of $$$ these halls get.

Dont worry, in the end the hall/staff will proove its worth the $$

ETA: dont worry, you can get some meals taken home

Aww...thanks... I sure hope so...

I can understand being annoyed about having to come up with the Maitre'd tip two weeks in advance of your wedding. I agree that doesn't sound right.

However, when you signed your contract, you guaranteed a minimum # of guests, which means you agreed to pay for that # of people, whether that many people showed up or not. That isn't your RH's fault.

I know that it's not the RH's fault of not reaching my min... I know that I signed the contact... that's not the issue. I was informed 6 months ago that the kids under 10 were half pice...so that means, duh...kids are half price. So, they should have mentioned then and there that you need to reach your min in order to have the kids half price b/c I would have made a smaller min to be on the safe side. When I told them how many I was inviting, they are te ones to tell me what my min should be. But after reasearching it now, they put it on the 'high' end according to the amount of NO everyone is getting is highter due to today's economy....ya know???

But I don't think you understand that by allowing you to count your vendors and the kids as full-paying adults, they are helping you meet your minimum, and actually trying to meet you halfway. I'm sorry you fell so far below your minimum. I think the best piece of advice I ever received and could ever give anyone about planning a wedding would be to negotiate the lowest minimum guarantee possible.

No, I do understand...

ok so you had to guarantee 175...if the charged you for 175 plus half price for the 13 kids you would be paying for more than 175 + whatever half price is X 13......by charging you the full price for the kids...you are only paying for 175...i assure you this is cheaper

eta: if you had to pay just to get to the minimum basically the vendors and kids are FREE instead of half price

Ask for, at the very least, the food that you are paying for but not eating to be wrapped up. We took home 9 full meals which we froze and ate every few days. They were also going to give us 9 salads, rolls, etc. but we didn't have enough storage space! You are paying for it, the kitchen should be prepared to cook it, so you might as well get to eat it eventually.

They already told us that ANY food that is prepared by them will NOT be allowed to leave the RH....except the top part of the cake!! I already tried.....

That seems weird to me! Our RH was happy to do it. They had a table of packaged-up food waiting for us by the door after the reception ended. It makes no sense that you are paying for meals that they won't cook/serve/give you to take home.

To be technical -- if the exact language is they won't let you take food that they 'prepare', have them package it before they prepare it. So they probably order X number of steaks. Whatever they don't need to prepare because you fall under your minimum, have them throw those frozen steaks in a package. same with extra hor dourves, rolls, whatever.

I completely hear what you are saying...I already told them that the final count inclused 13 kids....and not the vendors...they still didn't care. So I am still paying full price for them. I get what you are saying... no, my RH is not doing that...but they are the ones to help us make our min...we wanted 150 but when they heard how many we were inviting, they said we NEEDED to change our min to 175...so now here were are paying the extra money for NO REASON...Should have just stuck to what I wanted...

are you saying that your rh wants you to pay for 175+ vendors and kids? tell them to go scratch their a****!!!! They cannot specify how old a guest is......I guarantee if you post that specific question on here a lawyer can advise you better than me ( I am just a numebrs person) If there was anyway I could help you I would!!!!!! But you should absolutely argue that they cannot dictate who counts as a guest and who doesnt.....

Re: Frustrated

i had a similar problem..our in was 200 but only got 175 yes'. This included 4 kids. Because of this we had to include our 11 vendors to make out total 186. Being that this was still under the minimum we got an extra thrown in. Now the extra was ONLY thrown in because we had already paid in full for the 20 guests months ahead of time....

as for the tip before the wedding...I think that is crazy....how do people get off with that? Tips are supposed to be earned

Re: Frustrated

We were in the exact same position as you, and i looked at it like this...we guaranteed 150 ppl. We ended up with 120 adults, 10 kids, and 11 vendors. We still paid for 150 adults, but IMO, it worked out better for us than having 150 adults RSVP, then pay half for the kids and vendors on top of that! We also got 1/2 hour of over time thrown in for free because there was really nothing left to upgrade.
I know it s ucks!

BTW, the part about the tip is total BS. Tips are for good services provided!

I'm so sorry Dani! You should seriously have a heart to herat with Frank. Thats beyond messed up.

Re: Frustrated

OH SORRY i dont get the tip thing... tips are given for a service that was provided (and well done) not for a service that didnt happen yet.. I wouldnt pay it.. they may not even be hepful to you that day becaues they already got their money! They cant make you give them a tip early.. thats unheard of... is that in your contract?

MrsGarcia Posted:

Re: Frustrated

Did you re-read the contract ???? Frank told me that 2 kids can equal 1q adult if I didn't make my min.. I purposely lowered mine so I wouldn't get sh!t. Btw' he told me that stuff from the mini VH they would package for us to take home. Bring that up!!!!!

Re: Frustrated

Dani I am so sorry you have to deal with this. There's really nothing you can do about it now but I will suggest that you 'politely' tell them in the sweetest voice that you can manage 'I have everyone's name who works here. It's really ashame to know that after I have spent a boatload of money here that you can't help me out an ounce or even accomodate me in any way. But it's ok. I will have to make absolute sure that I include every bit of my experience here in my extensive review that will be published for thousands to see. I have also shared my experience thus far with a few future brides that at one point was considering this place for their wedding. This is no wa to do business. I have definitely lived and learned. Also, I WILL NOT give a 'tip' BEFORE the service has been performed. May I ask when have you ever tipped anyone BEFORE a service was performed and performed to YOUR satisfaction? Never? I didn't think so, so don't expect me to either.'

Lol...I know I just had a whole conversation by myself but that place needs to know what they're doing is not right. Who knows if you shed a tear or two they may throw a few things in

You know what.. I should call and see what he says to me.. You know all this time we thught he was such a good person .. then he turns on you at the end and does this crap.. Oh no! I will not allow that crap.

wow that really is a bunch of BS. And I thought the purpose of tipping was giving what you feel the person deserves AFTER they render a service.
