FSIL UPDATE

What a nasty person. People like her will always live their lives in a miserable state and try their best to bring you down along with them.

Forget the email. She's a selfish witch and doesn't deserve your attention. Hopefully, she doesn't come to the wedding.

I cannot believe she'd write such vile things! Someone like her is not someone you should want in your life, and its terrible that its your FSIL.

I am so appalled for you. You have a lot more maturity than I would have in this situation.

I absolutely think FH should tell her she's not welcome, I mean, at this point, do you even want to patch things up? I'd be civil at best from here on out.

How horrible! Your letter was so classy and she has to be like this. I feel so bad for you and for Mike that you guys have to go through this with her. Shes not worth it. If that was me I would write her off completely!!

No. I do not ever want to be around her. She comes to the states for Christmas every other year, I told FH that there's no way I am going to be there when she is.

Trust me, I wanted to b!tch her out but then I'm just stooping to her level. Its not worth it...she is beyond reasoning with.

I truly feel that whatever I have done wrong in my life, it was not deserving of this letter. You could talk to the person I have done the most wrong to (I can't even think of who that might be) and I'm sure they'd read the letter and say 'wow...that's fcked up'.

You have a really great attitude about this I'm glad FH supports you and has your back on this...and you just don't deserve it. She obviously has some major issues, and you don't need that in your life. You said it best, she's beyond reasoning with...now she's deaded. Maybe one day she will see the error of her ways and come crawling for forgiveness.

Yo....this sentence, which I copied and pasted...makes me want to knock her out:

'I understand your concerns regarding your grandparents, but the whole thing seems to be you placing your grandparents above Mike's sister.'

This is just beyond innapropriate.

Maybe she doesn't know the pain and reality of knowing that a grandparent may not make it to see their grandchild get married. From both sides - the grandparent and the grandchild - the realization of that is just...heartbreaking. If she doesn't know what that is like, then she is a very lucky person.

I dealt with this myself earlier this year; unfortunately my grandma passed away in May but I'm glad she was there for the engagement celebration and I shared as many details as I had with her before that happened.

So god forbid you'd want to do as much as you can to ensure that they are there for your special day. I am fuming about that statement.

As for the rest of the letter, as Ang pointed out, she's not around enough to witness your interactions with your FSD. If there was a problem - if she felt there was a problem - why didn't she speak up back then?

there is nothing worse then family drama. i know how you feel to a certain extent. if you want i will read it and tell you what i think

I sincerely doubt she will ever be anything but headstrong and self righteous. The only thing I am losing in this situation is the constant distress I had over the difficulties I have with her. Once I get past the absolutely shock and grief this has given me, it will be done with for good.

I'm sorry to hear about your FSIL's hurtful response. Don't give her this much power over you to let her affect you (and FH and FSD) this way. As they say, living well is the best revenge. It sounds like she's the kind of person who enjoys wallowing in her own misery and wants everyone to join her. Don't let her ruin your day. It sounds like she's not worth it.

ETA: And on the (hopefully) rare occasions when you do have to see her, put on your sweetest smile and kill her with kindness. That will annoy her more than any knock-down drag out fight ever would.
