I am not from Long Island, so I do not know much about places on LI. FH and I are thinking of staying here on our wedding night since we are not leaving for our honeymoon until a few days later. I have been reading reviews (on tripadvisor, etc) and alot of people have complained this place is run down and in desperate need of an overhall.Any opinions?
If you think this place is overated...any suggestions on an upsale hotel on LI? We really dont want to travel into Manhattan that night.

Thanks so much!!!
And for any ladies wondering if the guest rooms are nice... Hillary Clinton and Margaret Thatcher have stayed there so if it is good enough for them, I'm sure it's good enough for me!!! And the biggest diva ever (although I LOVE her) Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush stayed there a few months ago. Not saying to base your decisions on these people, but it makes me feel better to know that these VIPs were happy to stay there.

I have also stayed there, and I will agree that it is overrated. The lobby and public rooms are beautiful, but the rooms are run down. It's like the Waldorf Astoria, highly overrated, but it has the name, that is why famous people stay there. But that certainly should not even be a factor when booking a hotel! It is not in the same class has a Ritz Carlton. I would definitely look into some of the other hotels that have been mentioned. The Andrew, LaQuinta, Fox Hollow( which is beautiful!) Good Luck with whatever you do!
And since you asked for opinions, this is MINE. We are all allowed to have them

Wow the Waldorf and the Plaza are my favorite hotels in all of NY. I can't believe anyone wouldn't looove the Waldorf!!! Definitely loved the Waldorf... although I stayed in a suite so maybe it was better than the other rooms. AND I stayed in the Towers which is a more exclusive part of the Waldorf.
