Re: giorio's
Ive been to 2 weddings at Giorgios. The first one was in July and it was beautiful. The food was great, the service was exceptional, ONLY thing is CH is small, everyone kind of scavenged to find somewhere to sit b/c there were not enought tables/chairs.
The second one we went to in October, the service was great. VH was INSAAANE!
BUT same thing-CH was very packed, we stood and ate, only thing was dinner was ok, we all ordered something different and really it was edible-not fantastic. The veggies were soggy and mushy, the steak was pretty good but had WAY too much seasoning on it. The couple on the opposite side got the fish and we could smell it across the table
Otherwise, Giorgios is beautiful, i would just be concerned with a few things

To be honest you're the first person I've ever heard complain about anything at Giorgio's....and they're cocktail hour holds 350 people so I don't know why it would be so crowded unless the couple didn't opt to open up the second room.

Ive heard a couple of complaints...but I can only go by what I have experienced. Then again, if you are talking to people who booked there and havent had their wedding there of course its great. Like I said, one we went to the food was great the other not so much.
As far as the CH room, who knows how many people it held, I just know that we stood up to eat at CH- And if they did open up the second room no one knew about it. They only had about 150 people there.
That is why I said I would be concerned-so that she could ask and find out about it from someone who noticed these things

Re: giorio's
Was the cocktail room shaped in an L? I am wondering if they did/did not use the second room??? What about the outside? I am concerned now because I am having 200+ people. I also have heard concerns that the main ballroom was cramped...but that was from someone who went there 16 yrs ago. Also I have only heard fabulous things about the food. That is the first thing people say after they go there....the food is great!!!

It was shaped in an L, the outside was open but it was raining so no one was really outside except for the smokers. The ballroom wasnt really cramped-it was actually VERY comfortable. Ithink the problem with CH is they use those little tables and they only fit about 5 people....so when you think about it...5 to a table and a 150 people...thats 30 tables. I would ask them to come in and see it set up prior to a wedding. They usually will allow this, I known ours did.
Im sorry if I caused concern, not the point, I just want all the B2Bs to be aware of it so that they can talk to the hall depending on their situation

When I booked George Jr. said CH room holds up to 350 ppl, that you can open up the second room and it has more seating, so I would just make sure they do this for you.

Re: giorgio's
Thanks for all the input and honesty. When I went to see the place they said everyone would have a seat for cocktail hour. But I will definitely would like to see the layout of tables when they have everything set up for a wedding.
I definitely don't like being cramped and my family definitely would not like that.
For those who booked with Giorgios could you possibly forum mail me about what prices you were quoted and what's included in your reception?
I would really appeciate it!
Thanks and congrats!

Re: giorio's
My parents live in Wading River and I went to a prom at Giorgio's when I was in high school--it was fabulous! I LOVE it....my parents also just went to their friend's daughter's wedding there in August and said it was very nice. The only reason we didn't look at it was b/c we started looking late and they had no saturday night summer dates available that matched with our church. There are some nice churches around (we're getting married at St John the Baptist in Wading River, where my parents live--about 15 min from Giorgio's), but hotels are pretty far away....be sure to check into that if you have a lot of OOT--the wedding my parents went to used the same hotels we are using for our wedding, where the RH is in Mount Sinai--the hotels are off exit 63 of the LIE, at least 30 min away from Giorgio's....I think there is a hotel or 2 in riverhead, but they're not very nice I don't think....of course I live in PA now, so there could be new ones I don't know about!

DO NOT be concerned...I was just at a wedding with 200 ppl there and it was GREAT! Not crowded at all! I have been to MANY MANY weddings there and I fell in love with the place more each time...WAY before I go engaged! They just put mucho $$ into the renovations and now it's even better!

They are afiliated with 3 different hotels all about 10 minutes away. I blocked at the East End Best Western next to the outlets cause it has a bar and all 3 have shuttle service.

I am having 200+ people at Giorgio's and I dont think we will have any problems whatsoever! The cocktail hour room is plenty big enough and the ballroom can certainly easily accomodate 200. I went to a bridal showcase and there were at least 200 people and there was still PLENTY of room. Dont worry about it!
