Girl who called Z100 this morning about East Wind! Please Read.

You're in-laws are being ridiculous!! Ronkonkoma to Wading River is not a long distance to drive. I had family coming from Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Jersey out to Bayport. DO NOT concern yourself with this. Everyone has had to travel to a wedding at some point in their life. You do it because you care about that person and you want to celebrate with them.

My church is in Hicksville and my reception is at the East WInd. And yes...I am making people drive almost an hour out east, Memorial Day weekend. Tough and if they don't like it...don't come. I have already heard the comments but it's what I wanted, where I wanted, so that is that!!! My day, my way!!!

I just emailed them. It was bugging me way too much to just let it go. I feel like it's a stupid thing to get all riled up about but I can't help it - I am still riled up!
The thing that pissed me off the most was Danielle telling her mother to purposely refuse to go to a wedding JUST because it was a holiday weekend. I mean, c'mon! That's just ridiculous.
I'm sure they don't care what I think and I almost feel like they'll read my email on the radio and try to embarrass me somehow (since they've been known to do that with complaint emails) but whatever.
I included my phone #, email, and available times in my email to them.
Let them call me - I could go on all day!

I think i may have everyone beat! My FH and family lives upstate - about 2 hours from here. I am having my reception at East Wind and all of his family and a lot of our friends are driving 3 hours to get there. I think someone posted this, but if they are people you are really close to and want to see you at your wedding, they are going to travel no matter what! Im really glad I didnt hear that on the radio this morning! It would have started my day bad!

I heard that too. I caught flack from people who couldnt get a ride from Brooklyn to Oceanside. Someone told me my guests were having issues getting there. I simply told them it was my job to invite NOT to provide transportation. If they cant make it? Oh well. STAY HOME!

I also emailed z100 to let them know how I feel. I will be setting my alarm at 5:00am just to hear the whole show to see what they say about it. And then after tomorrow, I am done with that station! I do not like rude people or people that don't know what they are talking about, so I will listen to another station where they actually research the topics before they put it on the air. I hope they apologize to all those brides and grooms that they offended!
Also, I went to my cousins wedding at the EW and not only is that place absolutely beautiful, but it was not a bad drive at all. My cousin had people coming from the city, queens, and Nassau and Suffolk county and everyone went without a problem. I can't believe that people would actually complain about the drive.

there will always be people who complain (comments will always be made) but in the end, we need to decide what WE want to do for OUR wedding...

Wow they are so lucky that I did not hear that this morning!!! I would have called them and gone crazy on them. FH & I are getting married Thanksgiving weekend (Saturday after Thanksgiving). We were originally booked for Dec. 2, the following Sat, but his cousin booked their wedding Dec. 3rd (a whole other issue), so FH & I decided to switch our date to Nov. 25, and we are actually paying $10 more a person to have it on that weekend. So for Danielle to say that people do that to save money is BS! We are paying about $2500 more because we changed to that weekend. I hate when people talk about things they have no idea about!!!
for the whole date change issue, we're going through that now

I must admit I kind of agree with Danielle on this one. I have to go to a wedding on Memorial Day weekend and I can't go away now. Of course I'm going to go to the wedding because it's my cousin, but it is annoying. JMHO

Did you guys here them this morning? They brought it up all over again, and this time mentioned this post. They were reading people's posts on the air about the holiday wedding thing. I missed it yesterday though.

Too bad they don't want to TALK to any of us...I'd let them know that attendance at a wedding is not mandatory. If attending a wedding is going to interfere with their barbeque, they should stay home.

JMHO - This wedding is one very special day in your cousin's life and you can go away any other time (Labor Day Weekend, Columbus Day Weekend, Thanksgiving Weekend), or the year after. I understand you might want to make other plans for that weekend, but for family and people we love can't people (I am talking about everyone that this annoys, not just you) be happy for them rather than annoyed and give up going away one weekend out of there lives? If it really annoyed you that much, then don't go to the wedding and go away. I am not trying to start drama, I just feel bad for all those brides, myself included, that get upset every time they have to hear comments like this.

There are 52 weekends in a year. If there is no discount on holiday weekends, unless there is some special meaning to the date (ie your anniversary is on Memorial Day or whatever) why would you have to choose a holiday weekend. I can see if 80% of your guests were coming in from OOT, that's understandable. But most of us have locals coming to our weddings. I understand it's an important day, but why tie up one of a few extended weekends that we have.

The same argument can be made regardless of when a wedding his held. 'Why have it during the summer, the weather is only nice for a short amount of time' 'Why have a wedding during the winter, it might snow....'
Bottom line is that if the guest cares about the couple getting married, they will attend with pleasure and not gripe about the day that the bride and groom chose. The wedding is about celebrating a marriage- on the date chosen by the people getting married. It's not about throwing a party for friends and family on the date that works best for other people...

I think in general people don't have a problem with a time of year. But when you tie up a 3 or 4 day weekend people get annoyed. I'm not saying it's right, but it's a fact.

Whoa, ok girl. If its so 'annoying' to people, then they don't have to come. My wedding was originally NOT on a holiday weekend, but I changed it to memorial day weekend so that people do not have to worry about traveling and having to go to work the next day. There are many brides on here who are having their weddings on holiday weekends, and you just came on here and insulted them all.
