Curious how things are moving at this current moment...i know some of you got it in a month and others longer. BUT after you were approved how long did you wait for a closing date?
TIA
ETA: this isn't regarding fh and i finding a place lol sorry for the confusion. Its regarding my current apartment that i own and transferring names

We went into contract right before Christmas and we still haven't set a closing date.
WOW really have they said why? i know there have been quite a few girls who said not that long ago that it took 1-2 months for their closing. Is there a reason such as waiting for the others to move, appraisal or anything like that. When i bought this apartment a few years ago, it took under 3 months but most of it was waiting for an appt from the board. And you were approved and everything right
Yes we were approved for the mortgage and the house has gone through inspection. We are now waiting to lock in our mortgage rate and we have until the end of may to lock in without having to fill out all the paperwork again. We aren't really in a rush because it gives us a little more time not having to pay the mortgage since we aren't getting married until october. I am pretty sure we will be closing sometime in May.

OH so its your decision to wait so you can lock in a rate, oh ok that makes more sense. I thought they are the ones who just wont give you a closing date yet, i got a little worried lol. Well i am in a hurry since it will be like a sell i get the money from it so want to use it now

Re: girls who had closings within the past few months
I went to contract last April (2007) and we had so many issues with permits that we didnt close until January of 2008. But ours was a different kind of case.. no C/O's because it was built before they were necessary... and then the bank made them apply for C/O's or no mortgage....

Since it's a co-op it can take up to 3 months. It depends on the board, etc. It seems like they wouldn't hold up the process from what I read in one of your replies......so it could def. be sooner than 3 months.
I know when i bought my place I signed the contract May 31st and I closed Aug. 13th. So it was about 2.5 months. That was because two of the board memebers were away on vacation around the same time I submitted my application.

Espo- Our sellers needed to close quicker than we did bc they had already bought a house...we agreed to do so...it helped out buying price. It depends on how eager the buyer is really...if they want in quick you can close quick...both parties need to be on the same page basically.

We are still waiting for a closing date. It is just taking longer with the banks because instead of 10 banks that used to do mortgages there are half now so it's taking longer. It's just the paper work that's taking longer for us.

the board is fine, we spoke to them already. Usually the problem with the board is they make you wait forever for an appointment, we explained to them the situation so they said they will help us. The president of the board actually lives 2 doors down from me and we let him know about everything...The first time i moved into my building it did take 3 months. But yeah i know the board can be difficult...Luckily bc we live here a few years already they know us

all depends on how fast sellers want out --we signed our oct 12 and closed nov 27 -- 6 weeks-- the sellers wanted us to close before thanksgiving but we could not get lawyers to meet that week- cause of holiday.

yeah we are using 1 lawyer for the process, and we met with him yesterday. We said we need it ASAP and he said well if everything goes smoothly. So he knows lol now for everybody else to work quickly. Today faxed over all the extra stuff they asked for, such as all the papers i have to the co-op and the application from the co-op board. We told the president of the board we need it asap, so we told him when he gets the application to please do the interview right away. He is my neighbor and lives 2 doors down so ill stalk him until he does
thats why i dont understand why they are like well we might not be able to close by the time you want. They keep bringing up the board though so i guess thats why, i guess they dont believe when we keep saying 'dont worry the board is not a problem at all' the board ppl even approached me in my building to ask how they can help with this quicker and should've let them know earlier so they could've maybe helped out. So i hope thats the only reason the mortgage broker was saying might take longer than i wanted
