This is officially the vendor that's going to drive me crazy. Please help...
1. I do NOT want an Emcee. No Yoyos and Raise the roof please. Just not our style.
2. A good mix of music but not someone who just plays the whole song - I can just play my IPOD if that's the case. I really want someone who can mix and transition songs.
3. Creative Lighting
4. I want someone who plays a variety of music and who knows music well. I nearly fell of my chair when I said I wouldn't mind some house music and the DJ said he could play a little Kylie Minogue if I wanted - since when was she house music!!
5. Will pay up to $2500

I recommend Lond Island Sound and Spin Around Sound. Both are vendors on this site.

I am using LI Sound and I highly recommend them - they are just what you are looking for...they are really talented and don't have the cheese factor.

Call Vinny at High Voltage. 516-520-7921He offers packages with and without an MC. He offers different lighting packages (in addition to the lighting that comes with the basic DJ package). He knows what house music is, and he knows how to mix. For the DJ and the lighting it will cost way less than $2500 (based on the pricing I got from him).

im using Tommys Tunes for the wedding and used High Voltage for our e-party... both are vendors that are definitely worth checking out...

we used satisfaction guaranteed. they were fantastic!!!!! 3 weeks after the wedding, people r talking about it. we had a an mc, BUT he didn't force u to do anything

You should check out Stephen Krompier (pronounce w/ the ph) 631-242-7397. He has top of the line equipment, liquid sky/regular lights/green laser. He works w/ BPM (beats per minute) to mix the music, and is in the biz for years. He has 2 younger guys that work for him that know all the new stuff and but he knows what he's talking about too, he named about 10 good songs I didn't even think of in the interview! And if you don't want to hear any particular songs, you give him a list: 1. Definitly Play 2. Absolutely Not 3. Play only if requested He can put it in the contract for you and if a guest complains cause they wanna hear the Electric Slide and you said no, he'll even tell them YOU told him not to bring it and it's in the contract! I was very impressed w/ him, just waiting to see what other DJs offer before I sign. He also does video! Good Luck!

Parties Alive were awesome. They are vendors on here. They did not play hardly any full songs.. all were mixed in and it was great! Def check them out!

Thanks for all these recs! I'm really bad - the minute I see some of the company names I get turned off and just assume that they're cheese. Your recs definitely add some credibility!!

Check out Dj Tom Gordon. He runs his business out of brooklyn. He does have an MC but it is a very classy affair.
There are a ton you could go with. I have been to recent weddings with Vinny from High Voltage, Bravura, and Body Rock. All three were amazing. I used Tommy Tunes and could not have been more disappointed with a vendor. I was so excited to use them because I heard such great reviews, but they turned out to be a disaster. They were horrible and more expensive than other DJ's I had gone to see. FM me if you want more details.
