Going to weddings

Going to weddings

Has anyone found themselves going to weddings and instead of truly enjoying the wedding, finding yourself taking mental notes on what you liked and didn't like. I feel horrible because I have been to 2 weddings since I have been engaged (mind you I have only been engaged for 2 months! ) and all I have been doing is examining EVERY SINGLE DETAIL!!

Not to mention I become an emotional mess. When the bride and groom have their first dance, I imagine FH and I... and I get all emotional. Don't even talk to me about the Father Daughter dance! I was a wreck!!!!!! FH just sat there and laughed at me!!!!

Very funny! I'm guilty of the same things. BUT, I've only been to a few weddings while I've been engaged, and saw so many things that I hated, that it made me totally panic. (like terrible food, waiters dropping food all over the place, not enough seats at the cocktail hour, etc.) I guess it's ALL a learning experienc thought ,right?

Darn right I do! I'm really mean though because I look for the things that went wrong, so I can mentally prepare for any horror!

I DEFINITELY pay attention to more details now...but i also dont stress it, i also make sure to still have a good time. When we're eating then yes its ok to pay attention and take notes...Important things happening pay attention...other than that just enjoy yourself

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy myself!! I just find it so funny how a couple of months ago I went to a wedding and thought nothing of it.... now I notice so much more!!! (i dunno if that is a good or bad thing!) The great thing about it all is when FH points things out to me!!!!

yeah i definitely didn't pay attention to things I pay attention to now...But also remember most of your guests also won't be paying attention to every little detail either

Sure...

Just remember not to talk to the B&G about the small things that went wrong (happens at every wedding & it will happen at your own). I see ppl post here some pretty nasty stuff.

Re: Going to weddings

I totally do that now. I've gone to more wedding since I got engaged than ever before. I take it like the big guy upstairs is giving me a few tutorials before our big day.

Ooohhh I would never do such a thing!!! Anything that I really didnt like or that went wrong, I keep it to myself.... as long as the bride and groom had a good time that is all that matters!!! I do make sure to point out to the B&G all the good stuff!!! They put so much time and effort into the day, they deserve all the recognition they can get!!!!

Re: Going to weddings

That's exactly what I do...When prior to being engaged I barely even knew the name of the RH I was going to! haha...So funny how things change! And what's great is there will be someone at our weddings that will be doing the same exact thing!

I agree....I really only note what I like and if there is something I could use differently...Try not to focus on the negative things!!!

I've had the same experience. It is so stressful. We all just have to hope our hall isnt one of those!

Re: Going to weddings

guilty of doing the same..

yeah i went to a wedding recently where the officiant was an hour & half late

i really felt this bride's pain... i would have been freaking...it was a beautiful wedding but the rest of the day was rushed.

i also saw how everything played out.. for example i was thinking of a chocolate fountain.. well it ended up being messy and by the time they brought it out everbody was stuffed... wasn't a big hit. so i decided against it.

Re: Going to weddings

I try not to pay attention too much with the detail. I know the bride and groom work so hard to make their wedding perfect. I try to enjoy each of them (unless its another orthodox jewish wedding where FH and I was separated the whole time..now thats different story)

All my older cousins got married a few years ago and I didn't pay attention to nothing!! Now, I'm regretting it! hehe..

I pray someone gets married before me so I can scope some things out! hehe
